Brevard County’s tax base grew to $37.7 billion, almost 9 percent up from last year’s value of $34.6 billion, Property Appraiser Dana Blickley’s staff reported on July 1.
Reports show the county’s taxable properties, such as businesses and homes, increased by $2.5 billion in value in the last year. But in addition, builders added $582.7 million worth of new construction to the county.
The table at right shows separate figures for the county itself, its library, fire-rescue and law-enforcement taxing units, the School Board and the five cities within the Melbourne Beachsider’s coverage area. Their officials will be using the new property values as bases for budgets that will go into effect Oct. 1 for the 2018-19 fiscal year.
