VERO BEACH — New works by Rene Guerin will be featured during April at the Center for Spiritual Care in Vero Beach. The exhibition, which opens with a 5 p.m. artist’s reception Friday, April 6, will run through Monday, April 30. The Center is located at 1550 24th St., two blocks north of Vero’s Main Library.
Guerin’s show, titled “The Figure, Mostly,” will focus on her representational paintings of groups and individuals.
Guerin turned to painting the figure from imagination after many years of working from life.
“A certain stream of consciousness infuses these works, often inspired by an experience I’ve had,” she said. She recently saw the German movie “Toni Erdmann,” which features an explosively raucous dinner party.
“That imagery filled my mind as I sat down to paint the following day,” she recalled.
The result was the impishly revealing signature painting of her show at the Center for Spiritual Care.
