Vero Beach Choral Society Performs Songs from the Stage April 27

(VERO BEACH, FL) April 14, 2025 – Lights! Curtain! Broadway! The Vero Beach Choral Society will be performing songs from the Great Bright Way during A Broadway Melody: Songs from the Stage at 4:00 PM on Sunday, April 27 at First Presbyterian Church of Vero Beach, 520 Royal Palm Boulevard. The 60-member choral ensemble will perform works focused on shows by Gilbert & Sullivan, Stephen Sondheim and Stephen Schwartz during the 60-minute concert with no intermission. The audience can expect to hear a treasure trove of songs from Gilbert & Sullivan’s ever-popular Pirates of Penzance, H.M.S. Pinafore and The Gondoliers. Stephen Sondheim shows are represented with songs from Into the Woods, along with “Comedy Tonight” from A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and “Send in the Clowns” from A Little Night Music. Lyrics by Schwartz are heard in “Day by Day” from Godspell, and “Colors of the Wind” from Disney’s Pocahontas, along with “For Good” and “Defying Gravity” from the incredibly popular show, Wicked — whose movie adaptation recently earned 10 Oscar nominations. Over 20 members of the chorus will enjoy standout moments, performing solo sections from A Broadway Melody: Songs from the Stage.  Dr. Jacob Craig will direct the Vero Beach Choral Society, in addition to providing piano accompaniment. Additional instrumentation from bass guitar, drums and flute will punctuate the music. Admission to A Broadway Melody: Songs from the Stage is free of charge, with a $10 suggested donation. This energetic program literally has something for everyone.”
