Poker Run on the Water
April 22, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$50.00Feeling lucky? Looking for a thrill that can only come from some Florida sun, water sport adventure and a bit of poker? If you’re over the age of 19, and you own a boat, jet ski, canoe, paddle board or kayak (or have a friend willing to share one), make sure that on April 22nd you’re in Fort Pierce participating in the inaugural Poker Run on the Water, hosted by the Fort Pierce Yacht Club.
Don’t know anyone with a boat, but still want to participate? Lisa’s Kayaks has donated free-to-use equipment for the first 18 paddle boarders registered who need a boat! No excuses now to get out on the water and have fun in this event!!!
The Poker Run, which starts at 12:00 noon, will have two separate courses—one course for power boaters and one course for paddle boaters.
Contestants will visit five (5) different docks to pull poker cards and complete their hand. Each dock will have a different event sponsor with their corporate advertising (so they are easy to spot). These docks will be spread out over a few miles north and south of the Fort Pierce Inlet.
Upon completion of the course, each team will return to the Fort Pierce Yacht Club and submit their Poker Hand to the judges. At the club, local vendors will be on hand to serve up some food, drink and music.
The person (or team) with the best poker hand will win the prize for “best hand.”
But wait, what if your poker hand is embarrassingly horrible? That’s ok too, because there is a prize for worst hand! And, you can win for having the best decorated/themed boat too! So deck out your boat in Star Wars, Flying Pigs, Pirates of the Caribbean, or whatever you think will win (be creative).
Proceeds will fund a summer internship scholarship for an Indian River State College student to conduct marine research at FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. To register so you can be a part of all the fun and excitement, visit the FPYC website at www.fortpierceyachtclub.com.
