Indian River Genealogical Society presents Sandra Haselton McKenny

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River Genealogical Society is pleased to announce Sandra Haselton McKenny, as the program speaker at the regular monthly meeting on Tuesday April 10. The lecture will be held at the Indian River County Main Library, 1600 21st St., Vero Beach.

The business meeting convenes at 10 a.m., followed by light refreshments and the program. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Sandy hails from the cold Northeast Kingdom area of Vermont and has been a Vero snowbird since 1994. She has been doing her genealogy since receiving an IBM PC Jr. in 1986 and for many years has been finding and transcribing old documents and records to save them from disappearing.

During the summer months she is a weekly volunteer archivist and resident genealogist with a friend in her local library, the Goodrich Memorial Library in Newport, Vt., which is close to the Quebec border.

Many of her endeavors have been placed on a Vermont web page, self-published or given to other libraries and historical societies.

She is a founding member, past president and current secretary of the 150 plus member Vista Royale Computer Club which operates a computer lab for its members 6 days a week. They also have a speaker each Thursday, their own Genealogy Group and a subscription for the Library Edition of Ancestry.com for their Lab.

Visit their website, www.vrcc.info, to use their ‘genealogy page’ which has links to help you in your research; it is open for anyone to use.

“This will cover the differences in the three, and why we should consider transcribing a project or treasure when we find one. Learn the types of materials and how to acquire them, plus Tips, Tricks, Hazards and Examples.”
