Substance Awareness Center Evolves into Thrive: A Renewed Mission to Protect and Empower Indian River County

Indian River County, FL – For over 35 years, the Substance Awareness Center (SAC) of Indian River County has been a trusted ally addressing substance use and safeguarding our youth, families and community.  Today, SAC is proud to announce a bold step forward as it rebrands to Thrive, a name that reflects its unwavering commitment to creating a healthier community free from the harms of substance misuse.

A New Name, A Renewed Commitment
The transition to Thrive signifies more than a change in name—it marks a reinvigorated focus on the organization’s core mission. With comprehensive, evidence-based programs spanning clinical care, peer support, early intervention, and prevention education, Thrive continues to serve as the region’s leading resource for the recovery from and the prevention of substance use disorders.

Thrive embodies our dedication to empowering individuals, families, and the community to prevent and overcome substance misuse and achieve lives of resilience, health, and hope,” said Carrie Lester, CEO of Thrive. “This rebrand represents our ongoing growth and our commitment to making Indian River County a place where every individual can thrive.”

Building on a Legacy of Impact
Over the past three decades, Thrive has reached over 75,000 students through prevention education and facilitated thousands of counseling sessions annually. The organization takes pride in its proven outcomes, including a youth recidivism rate of less than 5%, demonstrating the efficacy of its compassionate, data-driven approach.

Notable achievements include:

  • 1,600+ individual counseling sessions provided annually.
  • 1,000+ group and individual sessions delivered each year.
  • A 35-year track record of prevention education impacting thousands of young lives.
