VERO BEACH — Closing out the celebrations of Ballet Vero Beach’s fifth anniversary season, the company is thrilled to announce Program 3, Circle of Influence, with performances April 6 at 8 p.m. and April 7 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the VBHS Performing Arts Center.
Tickets range from $10-$75 and can be purchased at balletverobeach.org or by calling the VBHS Performing Arts Center Box Office at 772-564-5537.
Program 3 pays tribute to a singular influence in Artistic Director Adam Schnell’s life, the late choreographer and teacher, Samuel Kurkjian. Ballet Vero Beach will showcase both Kurkjian’s Debussy Suite and Chopin Variations alongside Schnell’s own Pas de Cinq Russe. Sparkling costumes and crystalline choreography close the fifth season in style.
Ballet Vero Beach is the only professional company in the world currently licensed to perform Kurkjian’s work. Mr. K, as he was affectionately known, was the founding choreographer for Boston Ballet, studied choreography with George Balanchine, and influenced generations in the dance world (including Schnell) through his work at Walnut Hill School for the Arts outside Boston.
Circle of Influence will continue to showcase the intellectual yet accessible works Ballet Vero Beach has become known for, as well as the high caliber performances of the company’s resident professional dancers, in a fitting end to an explosively successful season.
