Dorothy Ann Smith, 89, Wabasso
Dorothy Ann Smith, 89, of Wabasso, FL departed this life on January 30, 2025, peacefully in her home. Dorothy was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and educator.
Dorothy was born on November 10, 1935, in Wabasso, Florida, to the late Samuel and Loretta Smith, where she spent her entire life with her late sisters Mary and Tena. A graduate of Vero Beach High School, she later went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Reading. She possessed an unwavering commitment to her community and her passion for education left an indelible mark on the lives of many. Dorothy dedicated 38 years of her life as a teacher, inspiring countless students with her wisdom, patience, and love for learning.
Dorothy’s heart was fit to burst full of love for her many friends, and her church family from Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sebastian, FL. Her faith was a guiding light throughout her life, finding immeasurable joy and comfort in her church community. Dorothy held a special place in her heart for her dear friends Latoya Hodges and Joyce Williams, whose companionship and support meant the world to her. The family cannot thank them enough for the love and care they provided for Dorothy.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Clinton Smith. Married June 26, 1959, she cherished their 46 years together and the family they built from the life they shared. She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her daughter, Grace Watson (Mark); her two sons, David Smith (Cheryl) and Groover Smith (Graciela). She also leaves her five beautiful granddaughters, Summer Monroe (Ben); Holli Carvajal (Luis); Brittany Schlitt (Michael); Katelyn Perkins (Michael); and Miranda Hunter (Jeffrey) and her six beloved great-grandchildren, Autumn and Brantley (Monroe); Lainey, Trace, and Callie (Schlitt); and Grayson (Perkins).
Dorothy will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love, faith, and dedication to her family and friends will never cease to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Sebastian. Reception to follow at the church.

Robert O. Fries II, 68, Sebastian
May 23, 1956 – January 30, 2025
Robert O. Fries II, formerly of South Williamsport, passed away on January 30, 2025 at home in Sebastian, FL at the age of 68. Bobby was born May 23, 1956 to the late Robert and Anna Fries. After graduating from South Williamsport High School (Class of ‘74) he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1974-78 and later attended WACC for horticultural studies. He spent many cherished years as the Director of Operations at the Williamsport Regional Airport, serving on South Williamsport Borough Council, and volunteering his time to local youth sports as well annually at the Little League World Series.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Anna Fries, and his beloved wife of 20 years, Christina Fries. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Nichole (Adam) Head of Ludowici, GA; Tyler (Lyanne) Fries of Crestview, FL; and Rebekah (Jordan) Weiner of Raleigh, NC; as well as his grandchildren, Kane, Amaya, and Jaxon.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Bobby’s memory to the Travis Mills Foundation.

Cathy Flannery, 78, Vero Beach
May 8, 1946 – February 4, 2025
Cathy Flannery passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025 at VNA Hospice House after suffering from a stroke at the age of 78. She was born in Queens, New York on May 8, 1946 and raised her children in Greentown, Pennsylvania and later retired to Florida.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend with a beautiful soul. She devoted all her time to her grandchildren, both near and far. Cathy truly knew that she was more blessed to give then to receive.
Cathy is preceded in death by Ronnie Flannery. She is survived by her boyfriend, Al Dahlgren, daughter, Chrissy, Macleary and son-in-law, Michael MacLeary, grandchildren, Haley, Morgan and Patrick. Son Tommy Griffenkranz and daughter-in-law, Amanda, Griffenkranz, grandchildren, Braxton, Oakley, and Gibson. Son, Michael Flannery, and daughter-in-law Barbara Flannery.

Alice Barlow Caywood, 103, Sebastian
October 12, 1921 – February 1, 2025
Alice Barlow Caywood, age 103, a resident of The Promenade in Sebastian, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2025 at the VNA Hospice House shortly after having had a stroke. Born on October 12, 1921, in Manchester, Connecticut, she was the beloved daughter of
Clarence and Margaret Barlow.
Alice graduated from Manchester High School and pursued college courses in the evenings, focusing on typing and shorthand. At the age of 18, she began her professional career at Travelers Insurance Company. After marrying the love of her life, William C. Caywood, she worked at Hamilton Standard Propellers before finding her most fulfilling role as an administrative assistant to a lawyer while living in Ohio. Later she lived in Silver Spring, Maryland having had several jobs working for Montgomery County Public Schools. Finally retiring as a library aide. Beyond her career, Alice was a devoted wife, mother to her 3 children, and homemaker, always cherishing time spent with her family. She and William shared 61 beautiful years of marriage before his passing.
Alice lived a full and active life and was still playing golf and water skiing into her 90’s. She also enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, swimming, traveling, reading, and exercising. She valued staying connected with her family and friends and always remained informed about current events. Throughout her life, she called many places home, including a lake house in Gettysburg, PA, and a condo on a golf course in Naples, FL, where she spent her winters as a snowbird. She was actively involved with her family and close circle of friends up until her passing.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William C. Caywood, and her daughter, Donna C. Holt. Alice is survived by her sons, William C. Caywood Jr. and Curtis B. Caywood, as well as her cherished grandchildren: Brian Holt, Christy Lausch, Cadance Rowland, Michael Caywood, Catie Caywood, Lauren King, Chris Caywood, and Sean Caywood. Her legacy continues through her 15 great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.
A celebration of Alice’s remarkable life will be announced by her family at a later date. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lucienne Russell deMontigny, 85
May 3, 1939 – February 8, 2025
Lucienne Russell deMontigny went to Heaven to Our Loving GOD on February 8, 2025. She was born on May 3, 1939, in Madawaska, Maine to the Late Wilfred and Noella Lagasse Russell. She was a graduate of Madawaska High School in 1956 then went onto Boston Field of Beauty School. Afterwards, she studied hair dressing in France and then opened her own salon “The Hair Boutique”. Lucienne adored her clients. She was also a member of St. Sebastian Church and St. Luke’s in Micco Florida. She Adored Our GOD.
She was married to Earl Henry deMontigny for 65 Wonderful years. He is missing her terribly. They together had 5 children. Their son Micheal and Lorraine deMontigny and their 6 children. Daughter, Monique Castler and her two children with a great grandson. Their daughter Nicole Dubois and her three children and three great grandchildren. Their deceased son Daniel has a beautiful wife, Rebecca deMontigny with the four children and five great grandchildren. The baby and 5th child is their daughter Lise and Gary Guerrette and their 4 children. They have 4 great grandchildren. Lucienne had a best friend and considered Dotty Paradise as a sister. She also has two biological sisters of whom she adored. Lucielle and deceased husband Oniel Boucher and their seven children. Sister Juliette and late husband Roger Charrette with three daughters. Brother Hudo and late wife Colette Russell with two sons. Brother, late Real and Irma Russell and 6 children. Brother Maurice and late wife Francoise Russell.
Thank you to all who loved this Beautiful strong woman. She fiercely loved her family and her friends. She will be missed, an Angel on earth she was, now she is our angel in heaven.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 24, 2025 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Micco.
