Mitzi Louise Geller, 95, Sebastian

Mitzi Louise Geller, lived a very long life of almost 96 years young. She passed away March 9, 2018. She would often ask how old she was and remarked, “WHAT A NUMBER!”, “Who the heck lives that long?” She knew that she had been blessed and loved life.

She was born April 29, 1922, in Germany and lived through a war with her sister Rita by her side. The two of them relied upon each other to stay alive and safe.

Both immigrated to the US after the war and wound up in New York City where Mitzi met a nice Jewish man named Irving Geller and soon married. The two of them reared three children: Rita, Glenn and Victoria.

On a vacation to Florida, Mitzi and Irving purchased a tropical fish farm in Sebastian, neither one of them knew anything about farming, but learned the business and made it a success.

Mitzi pursued another career as well and worked as a nail technician for many years before her retirement.

After she retired, she babysat her new born great-granddaughter for three years and this kept her quite busy and content.

She also stayed busy with her church and family and even took a kick boxing class of all things.

Mitzi has 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, and her special friend and caretaker Kristen.

Mitzi’s celebration of life will be held at Riverside Church, Sunday March 25 with a viewing at 2 p.m. and service at 2:30 p.m. Burial will be follow directly at the Sebastian Cemetery.
