Jacquelyn Tillman Harvey
November 21,1933 to September 5, 2024
Jacquelyn ‘Jackie’ T. Harvey departed this life on September 5, 2024 and now resides with her Lord and Savior, Jesus, in Heaven. She will be greatly missed here on earth, but she long awaited to meet her Jesus face-to-face and now that which was hoped for has come to pass. She was sure to be greeted with the words ‘welcome home, my daughter, my good and faithful servant.’
Jackie was the oldest child of Bernard and Mary Tillman. She was born in Brooksville, Florida on November 21, 1933. She and her family also spent time living in Georgia. However, most of her formative years were spent in Florida. She was a Florida girl through and through.
Jackie graduated from Stuart High School in 1951 where she was voted best dancer. This was the start of a legacy as both her brother, Buddy Tillman, and her sister-in-law, Ruth Tillman, were also bestowed this honor. Jackie must have taught them everything she knew.
Jackie met the love of her life, Joseph R. Harvey Jr., while working at a car dealership. He couldn’t take his eyes off her. She was his sun and moon. Joe also was a dancing man and he and Jackie could often be found ‘juking’ it up. Jackie and Joe moved to Vero Beach where they spent most of their married life. They got married on June 22,1952 and were married 56 years before he ‘went off and left her’ you could always hear her saying.
Meeting at the dealership must have sparked something in these lovebirds as they worked in the automotive business most of their lives. They owned and operated Vero Beach Automotive and loved serving their local community. Jackie also dabbled in real estate for a while and when she and Joe moved to Boone, NC for a few years she became a passionate insurance salesman.
Of all the things that Jackie was, her role as wife, mother, Grammy and Mimi were her most treasured. Together Joe and Jackie raised three children: Marie Gibbons (Chuck), Joe Harvey III (Denise), and Rick Harvey (Amber). Jackie has 8 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jackie could be quoted as saying, ‘the Lord told his people to go and populate the earth and my kids thought they had to do it all.’
Jackie was dependable, loyal, loving and quick-witted. She has so many sayings (Grammyisms) that if you wrote them all down it would be at least a 2-volume set. Her many sayings can still be heard by all those she loved both in her family and at her church. Jackie was a faithful member of First Church of God Vero Beach (now Pathway Church), and she along with her husband started the food bank ministry.
Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Mary Tillman, her husband Joseph R. Harvey Jr. and her great-grandson Joseph R. Harvey IV (JR).

Neal Clayton Amos, 68
March 24, 1956 – September 27, 2024
Neal Clayton Amos, 68, passed away from pancreatic cancer by the oceanside, which was his wish, on Friday, September 27, 2024.
Neal was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Royce and Dora Amos. They settled in Newark, Ohio and he graduated from Newark High School and Bowling Green University. He was nicknamed “Moose” because of his last name and the nickname stuck. His collection of all manner of moose figurines, signs, etc. is renowned!
While working for Owens Corning Fiberglass in Granville, Ohio, he met his lifetime love, Holly Keeler. They were married in 1987, and Neal became a father to her son, Josh.
Neal was immediately comfortable with Holly’s large family, and they regularly entertained the whole clan. Whenever asked how he was doing, his trademark response was always “Absolutely fantastic!”. He had a great sense of humor and loved to socialize with a wide group of friends.
Neal was always thinking of others, and this began early. He was involved with the Easter Seals Society in Licking County , Ohio and he also mentored a young man “H” as part of Big Brothers Big Sisters. Once he retired from GEA in 2023, he took it upon himself to spend hours each day in the hot Texas sun picking up trash along the busy boulevard near their home.
Neal is survived by Holly, son Josh and wife Jasta, sister Debbie, and numerous relatives and friends. A Celebrations of life will be held at a future date in Texas and Ohio. James Madison Hearndon, Jr., 91, Brevard County
April 27, 1933 – September 29, 2024
James Madison Hearndon, Jr. was a lifelong resident of South Brevard County Florida. He was born on April 27, 1933, in Micco, Florida to James Madison Hearndon and Elsie Mae Hutson Hearndon and was known as “Pete” from a young age. He attended Melbourne High School before going into the Army, he served during the Korean War and was stationed there in 1953 and 1954.
Pete attended Fellsmere Community Bible Church and was Baptized in November of 2019.
He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, he was initiated at the Fellsmere Lodge No. 232 on May 10, 1966.
Pete was active in the Grant Community Club in his early adult life, including being the President of the Grant Community Club.
Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. Some of his favorite trips were his fishing trips to Alaska, dive and fishing trips to the Bahama’s and hunting trips with his family and friends. He also enjoyed trips to Las Vagas and Tunica for a little table action.
After his Military Service, Pete went to work as a Firefighter at the Cape. He was on duty January 27, 1967, when the Apollo 1 tragedy happened.
In 1973 he took an early retirement option and focused his time on cattle ranching. In the 80’s he also did some Chartering on his fishing boat as well as started Hearndon Construction, which is still in operation today, now owned by his son Leonard. After he retired, he enjoyed his days visiting his kids and friends by making rounds to visit them. One of his favorite stops was the Summit Plaza.
Pete was preceded in death by his father James Madison Hearndon and his mother Elsie Mae Hutson Hearndon, his stepfather Charles Selle and his brother Charles Selle, Jr. He also suffered the loss of his son James Madison Hearndon III on June 9, 1975,
He is survived by his sister Joanne Selle Wood (Dave), his son Leonard Hearndon and daughters Georgia Nelson and Trina Smith (Brian). Grandchildren Nicole Knox, Kaleb Hearndon, Leighton Hearndon, Robert Nelson, Kelly Nelson, Joshua Smith, Ronald Smith, Christine Smith and Vince Smith. Pete also has several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life on November 10th, 2024, at 4pm held at 6905 Whispering Pines Lane, Grant, Florida.
Throughout his life dad choose to give Christmas to needy children and made donations annually to various Children’s Homes in South Brevard so we the family have requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to underprivileged children so every child can enjoy the holidays! Two options are Nana’s Children’s Home, 3492 Gods Way, West Melbourne, Fl 32904 or Children’s Home Society via their website, select Holiday Drive 2024 and direct the support to Greater Space Coast or Greater Treasure Coast.

Pamela Ann Slobey, 81, Vero Beach
December 5, 1942 – October 3, 2024
Pamela Ann Slobey, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Born December 5, 1942, in Dearborn, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Paul & Nina Taccogna Slobey.
In addition to running a cleaning service for a number of years, Pamela also owned and operated the Country Kiln Ceramic Studio in Westchester County, New York. Once she moved to Florida, she worked as a medical assistant.
Her love of animals especially cats was her life-long passion.
She was known in Vero Beach as the “Cat Broker”. She volunteered at numerous animal rescues including Raining Cats Shelter & Sanctuary, as well as other non-profit animal shelters. The cats and kittens she loved and fostered became perfect pets for many Pamela’s other hobbies included Scrabble, yard-sailing, and gardening. Additionally, she was gifted artistically, not surprising as her mother and aunt were well known artists.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Bruno, and a brother, Paul Slobey.
She is survived by her loving family; daughters, Lisa Parker, Julie Sullivan, and four grandchildren, Nicole Steiger Safiya Parker, Jimmy Sullivan & Joseph Steiger.
