Laura Pauline Fox, 96, Jupiter
October 22, 1927 – July 27, 2024
Laura Pauline Fox, loved by all who knew her, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida. At 96, she lived a full life and loved spending time with her family and friends, playing card games, and listening to music. She particularly enjoyed dancing. If she heard a tune that struck her fancy, she would jump up and dance around the room. Laura danced for hours at her grandchildrens’ weddings well into her 90’s
Laura was born in Meriden, Connecticut to Italian immigrants. Her father, Paul Spinelli, was from Ceccano, a small hilltop village south of Rome. Her mother, Laura (Adorno) Spinelli, was from Belvedere, a small village outside of Siracusa, Sicily. Laura was very proud of her Italian heritage.
She and her husband, Edward Fox, married in 1947. They raised their family in Meriden where she worked at the Meriden City Hall as the Assistant Tax Collector until her retirement. She and Ed relocated to Jupiter, Florida to be closer to her parents, her siblings, and two of their sons. Laura and Ed were married for 65 years.
Laura is survived by her three sons – Gary, Ken, and Tim; two daughters-in-law – Lil and Karen; five grandchildren – Megan, Ryan, Tyler, Kevin, and Seana; and seven great grandchildren whom she dearly loved. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Fox, and a beloved grandson, Logan Fox. Of her four siblings, she is survived by her dear sister, Pauline Erling.
Her body was cremated and will be interred with her husband at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida. The family plans to hold a celebration of her life at a later date for family and close friends.

John Paul Cagnetta, 91
August 15, 1932 – August 02, 2024
John Paul Cagnetta went home to take his place in Heaven on August 2nd, 2024. He passed peacefully two weeks short of his ninety-second birthday.
Born and raised in Brooklyn NY, where he met his wife of 69 years, Rena (Ginocchio) at a dance, while he was earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at Brookly Polytechnic. After they married, they moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where John trained as a nuclear engineer as part of the Atoms for Peace Program. John then served in the US Army, achieving the rank of Captain. He was very proud of his service to our country. Upon completion of his service, they returned to Brooklyn where John received his doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Polytechnic University of New York. Eventually he accepted a position at Northeast Utilities in Connecticut, settling in Wethersfield where he and Rena raised their family. He rose to the leadership position of Sr. Vice President and attended the Harvard University Advanced Management Program. After retiring, John went on to become Dean of the School of Engineering at the University of Hartford. But his love for academics would not allow him to fully retire and he then became President of the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.
Although he achieved much success and earned numerous titles in his professional life none of those meant as much to him as the titles of Husband, Father, Grandfather and Friend. His love, his quiet lessons, his smile, his laughter, changed the life of everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. He always put others first and his generosity knew few bounds. Often described as the “consummate gentlemen” John was soft spoken, humble and optimistic. He served as a mentor for numerous people in all walks of life and relished developing personal relationships. When he engaged you in conversation, he had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room. He was truly a servant leader who set an amazing example of what it means to be a man. His quiet strength, faith in God, and love of family and country inspired others to follow his example.
John loved being active and he played golf, skied and traveled extensively. He and his wife Rena spent their retirement years in Vero Beach Florida where he exercised regularly until he was close to ninety.
John leaves behind his wife of 69 years Rena with whom he shared three children, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
His family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Sonata Senior Living, Garden View Health and Rehabilitation and VNA Hospice of Vero Beach for the loving care they provided him.

Josh Walter Paul, 38, Palm Bay
June 08, 1986 – July 30, 2024
Josh Walter Paul, age 38, passed away July 30, 2024, at his home in Palm Bay, Florida.
He was born June 8, 1986, in Hollywood, Florida.
Josh was a graduate of St. Leo University and was a Teaching Assistant at his alma mater.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Theresa Paul; mother, Pamela Paul; father, Lawrence Paul; and brother, Erik Paul.
He was predeceased by his grandmothers, Ruth Hough and Elnor Paul; and aunt, Shirley Miller.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Anna-Maria Schaefer, 90, Vero Beach
March 25, 1934 – August 03, 2024
Anna-Maria Schaefer, 90, of Vero Beach, Florida, was united with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024. She was born in Mt. Kisco, New York on March 25, 1924. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Columbia University’s Teachers College in 1956 and her Master of Arts degree from that college in 1964. After working for Cornell University’s New York Hospital Medical Center’s Ambulatory Care Department for 10 years, Anna-Maria joined the Visiting Nurse Service of New York in 1965. She became one of that Service’s first ten Family Nurse Practitioners in New York City. As an FNP, also known as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Anna-Maria performed many of the same duties as a family physician.
As a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Anna-Maria participated in numerous spiritual opportunities, including the Women’s Bible Study group and God Pause (the practice of prayerful reflection). She was instrumental in beginning the confidential prayer group, providing guidance to its formation. Additionally, Anna-Marie worked closely with Our Savior’s Health Ministry Team when she was physically able. An avid nature lover and bird watcher, Anna-Maria knew the value of living harmoniously with the earth’s environment.
Anna-Maria was a person of unshakable belief. Her quiet, effective faith spread to every corner of Our Savior Lutheran Church’s ministry. Anna-Maria unobtrusively assumed an informal role as spiritual guide and counselor, providing God’s loving support to those in physical, emotional and spiritual distress.
Anna-Maria habitually sent greeting cards, letters and text messages of spiritual encouragement, reminding recipients they were in the care of God’s unconditional love. Her gifts of flowers brought joy and comfort to those in need of a splash of color, and her quiet, measured conversations of support and encouragement gave spiritual strength to those in need.
While her passing leaves a physical void in the heart of Our Savior’s faith community, her spirit lives as a warm reminder of what it means to share freely the abiding love of God. This was just one of Anna-Maria’s gifts to the world, a gift many were blessed to receive. May she rest in peace knowing she shared this gift of God’s love with all those in need of her physical and spiritual support.
The memorial service will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church on August 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m.

James Terrell (Terry) Goff, 87, Vero Beach
August 29, 1936 – August 07, 2024
James Terrell (Terry) Goff, 87 passed peacefully on August 7, 2024 at the VNA Hospice House. Born in Winter Haven, Florida to James A. and Nora Hancock Goff, he attended public schools in Winter Haven, graduating from Winter Haven High School before attending the University of Florida. He interrupted his studies to serve his country in the United States Army. Upon discharge, he completed his education at Florida Southern College, earning a degree in accounting.
In 1971, he moved his family to Vero Beach where he resided until his death. He was actively involved in many organizations within the community including the Indian River County Taxpayers Association, The Civic Association, Pelican Island Audubon Society, Kiwanis Club and the founder of the Treasure Coast Bicycle Club. Having an interest in local politics, he was elected to the Vero Beach City Council where he served two terms as Mayor.
In 1980 he established and opened his tax practice, Terry Goff, PA. where he worked until his retirement. He was President of the Florida Society of Enrolled Agents and instrumental in starting the Treasure Coast Chapter of Enrolled Agents.
He was member of, and attended Central Assembly of God in Vero Beach. He volunteered his time, talent and treasure to many in need expecting nothing in return.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, watching sports, news and old movies but was happiest in his boat with rod in his hand a fish on the line. He also enjoyed traveling, sharing his experiences and picture of travels through all seven continents.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Lucille (Lu), daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Gonzalez, sons Mike, Stephen and Jeffrey, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and brother Charles.
He is preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Jonathon Gonzalez.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday at 2:00PM, August 15, 2024 at Riverside Assembly of God, 11205 Roseland Road, Sebastian, FL 32958.

Cory Edward Hobgood, 40
November 09, 1983 – August 12, 2024
Cory Edward Hobgood, 40 years of age, passed away on August 12th, 2024, in Vero Beach, Florida.
Cory was born in Ft. Pierce, Florida to Susan and Edward Hobgood.
He attended Vero Beach High School, graduating in 2002. Cory also attended Indian River State College and received an Associated degree in Aquaculture. He graduated from Chapman School of Seamanship in 2007. Cory was first mate on many Yachts throughout the Atlantic Ocean. After sailing the seas. He attended heavy equipment school and learned to drive an excavator while mining in California, Texas, and Arkansas.
After many venturing careers Cory returned home to tend to a family illness when he became employed with Piper Aircraft.
Cory was a member of St. Helens Catholic Church, Vero Beach Fl.
He volunteered during beach cleanup restoration projects and enjoyed fossil hunting. He was happiest when fishing with family and friends.
Survivors include his parents Edward and Susan Hobgood; daughter Cayden Hobgood; brothers Brian Aycock and Teddy Hobgood; aunts Karen Pierce, Linda Grundel, Katrina LeMaire, and Beverly Hargroves; many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, friends (especially Mike Nova), and his beloved chihuahua Tinker Bell.
Cory was predeceased by his sister Sarah Bilquist and cousin Christina LeMaire.
A gathering will be held on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home & Crematory with a memorial service to begin promptly at 1:00 pm.

Roberto M. Aranda, 71, Vero Beach
May 11, 1953 – August 11, 2024
Roberto M. Aranda, age 71, passed away August 11, 2024 at his home in Vero Beach, Florida.
He was born in Lima, Peru and moved to Vero Beach from White Plains, New York.
He had a love for soccer, starting at an early age. He cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed by his friends, who he always made laugh.
Roberto retired from Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, where he worked for over 15 years.
Survivors include his children, Junior Aranda, Kerina Aranda, and Joe Arroyo along with his grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Violeta Aranda who passed away in November 2023.
