Coming Up! Hot Sauce Moon brings the tunes at ‘Live in Loop’

Hot Sauce Moon will perform an eclectic blend of classic rock, folk rock, country and blues at the free outdoor Live in the Loop concert at Riverside Theatre from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. The unusual thing here is that the group has percussion provided by a Zendrum, which is a digital drum kit work like a guitar. The following two concerts will feature Klassik Reggae, a South Florida and Treasure Coast band with authentic Caribbean music from Dominica, St. Vincent and the Bahamas, which is a recreation of a Pink Floyd concert experience. That concert runs from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. Finally, Melinda Elena performs a wide range of cover tunes from Amy Winehouse and Lady Gaga to Dua Lipa and Tina Turner. They perform at 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10. Running simultaneously with Friday and Saturday’s Live in the Loop concerts is the Comedy Zone, where standup comedy is king. This weekend, the headliner is Ken Miller, who won the 2013 Florida’s Funniest Comic competition. He also won a “Steve Harvey Standup Spotlight” competition. The feature act is Seetha Radha, who takes humorous looks at his culture, growing up in India, his family and more. All tickets are $25. Comedy Zone is recommended for ages 18 and older. Shows may contain coarse language and adult material. They run approximately 80 minutes. The shows are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, and Saturday, Aug. 10. The Sebastian River Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the Fiesta-themed “Grill Out Night” from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9. The event is a community-wide open house designed to let residents learn more about area businesses. Participating locations offer sales, discounts and door prizes. The Vero Beach Theatre Guild will be holding auditions for its series of shows in “Blackbox After Dark.” The auditions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, and Monday, Aug. 12. The director is Ben Earman and the music director is Karen Wiggins. The shows contain adult language and themes, and are not suitable for younger audiences nor younger actors. All those auditioning must be at least 18 years of age. The series will include: “(title of show)” Nov. 7 to Nov. 16, “God of Carnage” Jan. 16 to Jan. 25, and “Buyer & Cellar” Feb. 27 to March 8. Auditioners may audition for as many shows as they want. If you’re auditioning for a musical, be sure to prepare a short, up-tempo musical theatre piece (16 to 32 bars) that showcases character and storytelling. An accompanist will be provided or you may use a track with no background vocals. Rehearsals will be held offsite. “(title of show)” is a musical comedy about writing a musical comedy. It has a cast of two men and two women. “God of Carnage” is a Tony Award-winning comedy about manners “without the manners” and has a cast of two men and two women. “Buyer & Cellar” is a comedy about a most peculiar job involving Barbra Streisand. Riverside Theatre begins dance classes for all ages on Monday, Aug. 12. The genre of dance includes acro, ballet, creative movement, contemporary/hip-hop, jazz and tap. The classes begin at $125 per quarter. Tuition assistance is available. The Creative Movement class runs from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays and is recommended for age 5 only. It is based on best practices for introducing students to dance study and to ensure they are ready with their physical and developmental milestones.
