Windsor residents and guests bid adieu to this year’s art exhibition at the Gallery at Windsor, “A Piece of Waterfall in the Sound of Crickets,” a solo exhibition by Costa Rican contemporary artist Federico Herrero.

Invitees at the Finissage Reception were given a last look at the vibrant exhibit, which featured a selection of Herrero’s recent paintings and monotypes. The exhibition, resplendent in its geometrically patterned bursts of color, had been on display since the end of January.

As a result of monies donated by visitors to the gallery during the Herrero exhibition, the Windsor Charitable Foundation gave a grant of $8,500 to the Vero Beach Museum of Art.

The donations received were specifically earmarked to support arts education in Indian River County.

The grant will go toward the VBMA Summer Art Camp Scholarship Fund. Awarded based on need, the scholarships enable students to attend the museum’s summer camp for a full week, so that they might immerse themselves in various artmaking experiences.

This summer, children ages 5 to 16 will explore artmaking through a variety of mediums and movements based on the museum’s summer exhibition, “Rock ‘N’ Roll Billboards of the Sunset Strip: Photographs by Robert Landau,” focusing on the ways music and storytelling impact the modern world.

“On behalf of the VBMA trustees and staff, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Windsor Charitable Foundation for providing the experience of VBMA Summer Art Camp to aspiring young artists, for whom attending camp would otherwise be financially challenging. This profound act of generosity underscores our mutual dedication to art and how it enriches lives and fosters vibrant communities,” wrote Brady Roberts, VBMA CEO/executive director, who was unable to attend.

Throughout the reception, as they celebrated the exhibition’s success over cocktails and canapes, guests also enjoyed listening to music performed by Indian River Symphonic Association scholarship students. The IRSA Scholarship Fund was a prior recipient of funding from the foundation.

The Windsor Charitable Foundation, founded in 2015, utilizes philanthropy to change lives and improve the community in the areas of food, shelter, assistance with disabilities, health, children’s education, medical research, the environment, and animal advocacy. It also supports Windsor Properties and Club employees experiencing hardship.
