MELBOURNE, FL, July 9, 2024 – The Adagio Sax Quartet (ASQ), a small ensemble of the Melbourne Municipal Band, will present its Summer Concert on Sunday, Aug. 19 at 3:00 p.m. at the Harbor City Baptist Church, 2711 N Harbor City Blvd., Melbourne. There is no charge for admission; a freewill donation will be taken during the concert.
“It’s a good time to get out of the heat and enjoy some cool music in the cool indoors,” said Dave Hutson, director of the group and baritone sax player. “The quartet will play two audience favorites – Bizet’s Carmen Fantasy, a special arrangement of Carmen Suite for sax quartet; and Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik. We will also get your feet tapping with Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag and wax poetic in Carlos Gardel’s famous tango, Por Una Cabeza, from the movie, “The Scent of a Woman. We hope you will join us for this fun afternoon.”
In addition to Hutson, ASQ players include Ben Gonzalez on alto sax, Evan Buckle on soprano sax and Brad Pelsue on tenor sax.
