Mary D. Mingain, 91, Vero Beach

Mary D. “Doris” Mingain, 91, of Vero Beach, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Perous and Karekin Mavian on March 1, 1927, in Brantford, Ontario, Canada, and later relocated to Windsor, Ontario.

She married the late Henry Mingain in 1963, and they made their life together in North Providence, R.I. They later retired and wintered in Port Charlotte, Fla.

Early in Mary’s career she was a hair stylist and then a draftswoman in Detroit. After moving to Rhode Island, Mary worked at Rhode Island College as an administrative assistant.

Mary was a member of St. Sahag and St. Mesrob Armenian Church in Providence.

She was an amazing artist, with oils and water colors. She loved to sew, cook, laugh, travel and spend time with her family.

She had a proud love of her Armenian heritage and spent time educating people on the genocide.

She is survived by her loving son, Mark (wife, Karen), of Vero Beach; siblings, Joe (wife, the late Dorothy) Mavian, Dick (wife, the late Sue) Mavian, the late Michael (wife, Delores) Mavian, the late Zorek (wife, Alice) Mavian; grandchildren, Randon Mullins and Nikayla Brown; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be private.

Malcolm B. Rice, 85, Vero Beach

Malcolm B. Rice, 85, of Vero Beach, passed away on March 11, 2018.

Mal attended college in New Jersey at Rutgers and Seton Hall Universities. He enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War.

Mal represented the State Mutual of America of Worchester, Mass., and was appointed to the position of the General Agent for the Philadelphia region.

After relocating to Florida, he obtained his Community Association license and eventually created his own property management firm, Rite Property Management.

Entering his retirement, Mal began a writing career and published four fiction novels.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura; and his two cherished daughters, Marcy Ellen (husband, Gary Dickstein), of Palm Gardens, Fla., and Joanne (partner, Joe Murphy), of Stuart; three grandchildren, Alyssa, Amanda (partner, Nick) and William (partner, Julie); and one great-grandchild, Malcolm.

There will only be a private family remembrance observed.

 

 

William W. Stevens, 67, Sebastian

William W. Stevens, 67, died March 12, 2018, at his residence in Sebastian. He was born in Marietta, Ohio, and lived in Florida since the early ‘70s. He settled in Sebastian in the 1980s.

Bill was a US Air Force veteran and served in Spain during the Viet Nam War.

He retired from AT&T in 2016, where he worked as a facility technician for over 40 years moving from lineman to air pressure.

He was a lover of old cars, hot rods and the Thursday Night Cruise-in at Checkers.

Survivors include his companion Karen R. Loveday, of Sebastian; brother, Chuck Stevens; sister, Janice Kinney; and a close circle of friends.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas Arthur Stevens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice Foundation, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960 in Bill’s memory.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
