Mary Ellen Ederle, 79, Vero Beach
Mary Ellen (nee Gorman) Ederle passed away on March 5, 2018, in Vero Beach, at the age of 79. She was born and lived in the St. Louis area for most of her life.
She graduated from Rosati Kain High School and lived in St. Louis until she moved to Fairview Heights, Ill., in 1966.
She dedicated her life to her loved ones, and that determination and dedication will forever have a lasting impact. That dedication carried over to helping other children as well.
Mary Ellen was a childcare provider for most of her adult life. She was also active in her community as a member of her local school board and very active in the youth little league baseball and football association in Fairview Heights.
Later in life, she moved to the Chicago area to be near one of her son’s families. She lived in Plainfield for a number of years and was active in leadership at Immanuel Residences in Downers Grove as she moved into retirement.
Mary Ellen found great joy in spending simple days or nights with her family and friends, hanging out together and laughing the day or night away. She was also an animal lover, immensely enjoying her and her family’s dogs through the years, and loved sports, being an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.
Her family will remember her for her memorable presence, strong sense of family and great sense of humor.
Mary Ellen is survived by three sons, Douglas (wife, Virginia) Ederle, Kenneth Ederle and Todd (wife, Janet) Ederle; seven grandchildren who she adored, Ryan, Lauren, William, Trent, Samuel, Katherine, and Curt.
She is preceded in her passing by her mother, Genevieve Gorman; and father, Eugene Gorman.
Mary Ellen will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis alongside her parents. A memorial service will be held in St. Louis at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a contribution may be made to Love on a Leash (loveonaleash.org), a national comfort dog charitable organization.
Cynthia “Cindi” Louise Johnston, 57, Wabasso
Cynthia “Cindi” Louise Johnston, 57, of Wabasso, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018, at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach. Cindi was born in Stuttgart, Germany, and moved to Wabasso at the age of 3 months.
Before retiring, Cindi had worked for Dr. Gemma Mendoza. She was a graduate of Vero Beach High School and Indian River Community College.
Cindi attended Grace Methodist Church in Wabasso in her youth and she enjoyed gardening and the companionship of her loving pets.
Survivors include her husband, Craig Miller; parents, Ruby and Lee Johnston, of Winter Beach; brother, Michael Edwin (Cindi) Johnston, of Orlando; and niece, Lauren (Zac) Wallingford, of Merritt Island.
She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny “J.R.” Alexa.

Gloria M. Price, 91, Vero Beach
Gloria M. Price, 91, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach. She was born on June 25, 1926, in Gainesville, Fla., to Jennings Oliver (J.O.) and Addie (McDavid) Malphurs.
She grew up in Waldo, Fla., a small town near Gainesville and was the youngest of four children.
She earned a degree as a Registered Nurse (RN) during the mid-1940s from a nursing school located in Jacksonville.
She married William Robert “Bob” Price, Sr. on June 6, 1948, in St. Augustine, Fla. Bob and Gloria lived in Gainesville for a few years while he was in the process of earning his degree in Pharmacy from the University of Florida.
Starting in 1949, she began raising a family and had three children: William (Robert) Price, Jr., Kenneth E. Price, and Holly F. Price.
After living in Gainesville, the family moved to Miami, Fort Pierce, and Eustis for a few years before settling in Vero Beach during the 1950s, where Bob was born.
Gloria retired from practicing nursing sometime in the early 1960s while she was in her mid-30s.
Throughout much of her life, she liked to spend time decorating her home, shopping for antiques, cooking, boating, traveling, and visiting with friends and family.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and the Vero Beach Garden Club for many years. Over the past 20 years or so, she enjoyed playing bridge, dancing, going to the theater, spending time with her friends at the retirement community where she lived and with her close companion Charles McKenzie, and visiting with her children.
Gloria was a dear, sweet soul.
She is survived by her eldest son, Robert Price, Jr., DDS, of Vero Beach; her daughter, Holly Price, of Port St. Lucie; and one sibling, sister, Clarice Windham, of Leesburg, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her father, J.O. Malphurs; mother, Addie ( nee McDavid) Malphurs; son, Kenny ,in 1990; and husband, Bob, in 1991.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gloria’s name to the American Red Cross or to other charity of your choice.
Services will be held Thursday, March 8, at 1 p.m. Indian River Estates in the lobby, 2250 Indian Creek Blvd., Vero Beach. There will be a viewing at Strunk Funeral Home between 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 8.
A funeral will be held Saturday, March 10, at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church 3612 NW 177 Ave., LaCrosse, Fla., north of Gainesville. Gloria will be buried at the adjacent cemetery where her mother, father, and other family members are located.

Reuel E. Warriner Jr., 79, Vero Beach
Reuel E. Warriner Jr., 79, of Vero Beach, originally of Morristown, N.J., and Montrose, Pa., died peacefully in his Vero Beach home on Feb. 28, 2018.
Reuel was a graduate of St. Marks School in Southborough, Mass., and Yale University in New Haven, Conn.
In his long and varied career, he served as a Naval Aviator, an engineer at Pratt and Whitney in Hartford, Conn., a Gentleman Farmer in Middleburg, Va., where he bred and raced thoroughbreds, and established a large herd of beef cattle, an entrepreneur in Laguna Beach, Calif., and a truck driver for KLLM.
After the death of his daughter, Anne Blair Warriner, in January of 1999, he purchased two Henley Sailboats, manned them singlehandedly, and loved spending time on the ocean where he seemed to find comfort and peace.
In recent years, he has moved between his Vero Beach home and a farm that he has lovingly restored in Lexington, Va., with much help from his grandson, Nick Turecamo. The two of them also shared a love for classic cars, and Reuel has several in the various stages of restoration, including two “muscle” cars, which he loved.
He was an avid gardener and a great cook. He loved to read, to interact playfully with whoever he encountered, and to spend time in the company of his family. He was a hard worker and a curious student of life; well-respected and well-loved.
His presence and his unique way of viewing the world will be sorely missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Nathalie Warriner Herrman; his grandchildren, Sienna and Nick Turecamo; and his sister, Alma Warriner Wood.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 11, at 3 p.m., at the chapel at Strunk Funeral Home in Vero Beach with another service planned for May 16 in Lexington, Va.
