| Put on your red, white & blue and get ready to wave the flag when the Space Coast Symphony winds present a weekend of free patriotic concerts.
Spirit of America will showcase American heritage, as conductor and artistic director Aaron T. Collins directs the wind orchestra in the “Star Spangled Banner,” “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood and favorites like the beloved, “America the Beautiful.” Included is David Holsinger’s thrilling and powerful work, “To Tame the Perilous Skies,” dedicated not only to the exceptional men and women of the Tactical Air Command, but to the spirit of the modern military aviator. Among the many rousing patriotic numbers will be a salute to those who served in the United States Armed Forces; veterans will be asked to stand when their service song is played.
Attendees to Spirit of America can also count on plentiful marches from The March King, John Philip Sousa. Rounding out the program is the World Premiere of Christopher Marshall’s “Pulse.” This powerful work is a response to the 2016 Florida massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Marshall’s hometown of Orlando. “Pulse” gives musical expression to a full range of emotions – from grief to anger to consolation. Concert goers to Spirit of America are invited to wear red, white and blue in a show of patriotic solidarity.
