Raiders of the Lost Ark. The Empire Strikes Back. E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jaws, Jane Eyre… These are just a few of the movies with soundtracks by the legendary composer, John Williams. Fans are in for a soaring musical experience when your Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents music from these and other Williams’ film scores, during, The Best of John Williams.

The season-closing concert of Williams’ film music gets underway Saturday, May 27 at 7:00 PM, at the Scott Center for the Performing Arts in Melbourne and Sunday, May 28 at 3:00 PM at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center in Vero Beach.

Concertgoers will hear many of their favorite themes, as the orchestra fills the hall with music from such films as Jaws, The Cowboys, Superman and more. Over fifty youth musicians from around Central Florida will perform side-by-side on the second half of the program with their professional SCSO counterparts.

Cosplay enthusiasts are invited to come dressed in costume inspired by their favorite John Williams’ film. $30 tickets are available through the orchestra website www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust in Suntree and Vero Beach. Tickets at the door are $35. Concertgoers aged 18 and under or with a college ID are admitted free to every SCSO concert.

No one has composed more inspired and recognizable soundtracks than the illustrious John Williams. For Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, Aaron T. Collins, The Best of John Williams is an homage to the composer’s greatness.

“Music is such a huge component of any film,” said Collins. “Excitement, color, power, drama –it’s everything. And by any standard, John Williams’ film music ranks at the very top.”
