VERO BEACH, April 5, 2023 – Ready, set, go! United Way of Indian River County is hosting its Inaugural Torchbearer Trike Wars race as part of its Thank You Celebration. This year’s event will be a block party, open to the public, on April 28 at Sailfish Brewery in Vero Beach.
Presented by Gould Cooksey Fennell, festivities will begin at 5:00 pm, with the race starting at 5:30 pm. Teams from Torchbearer workplaces, those who have pledged $12K in employee and corporate donations, will compete for the coveted Trike War trophy. Notable teams include Publix, Merrill Lynch, Indian River County School District, Indian River Sheriff’s Department, Dean Mead Minton and Moore, and Northern Trust. Witness the mayhem that is sure to ensue!
“Each year, we recognize community members who give, advocate, and volunteer on behalf of United Way and the place we all call home,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County. “It’s a great opportunity to see familiar faces and thank our partners for their contributions to the community, along with a bit of friendly competition.”
Following the race, there will be live music by Jesse and the Thieves, a bounce house, and games for all to enjoy! In addition, drinks will be available for purchase at street bars from Sailfish, Sol Mar, and The Cellar, and Sailfish will have a street kitchen serving tasty food.
The Thank You Celebration marks the end of United Way’s Annual Campaign and recognizes the volunteers, donors, workplaces, funded partners, and community for supporting its mission. Everyone is invited to attend and learn more about United Way’s work in Indian River County.
A special thank you to our 2022-2023, Torchbearers: Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Publix, IRC School District, Dean Mead Minton and Moore, Northern Trust, Gould Cooksey Fennell, Indian River Sheriff’s Department, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital, Bernard Egan Foundation, Florida Power & Light Company, Indian River County, Piper Aircraft, and Florida Floor Fashions.
