Vero Native, Susan Hale, to Show Abstracts at Center for Spiritual Care Feb. 3-28
Susan Hale’s abstract paintings will be shown at the Center for Spiritual Care in Vero Beach Feb. 3-28. The exhibition, titled “Journeys,” will include paintings that have been described as otherworldly.
Curator-critic Ellen Fischer has noted that Hale’s paintings “possess a peaceful silence, the kind of silence that, as when you are alone on a forest path, you would hesitate to break by speaking aloud.”
Hale, a native of Vero Beach educated in Maine, Washington, D.C., and Spain, became widely known for her hand-crafted jewelry before she began to paint watercolors and then oils. She comes from a family of artists stretching back at least three generations. Her great-aunt Janet Dexter Storer, was one of New York’s most successful portraitists and illustrators during
the 1920s.
The exhibition will begin with a First Friday reception Jan. 3 from 5 to 7 p.m., which will offer an opportunity to meet Hale. After that, viewing will be by appointment.
