Vero Beach, FL — The influences of impressionist artists Claude Monet and Paul Cezanne are evident in the art by Richard Gillmor, the solo exhibitor at the Indian River County Courthouse through October 12.
Titled, Waterscapes, the exhibit is part of the Art in Public Places initiative of the Cultural Council of Indian River County. Waterlilies are a favorite subject and the artist uses round canvases up to three feet in diameter to convey an image in oils and acrylics.
“The interplay of light and reflection on the water remains fascinating to me,” Gillmor said. “Thirty years of living in the Florida Keys and traveling through the Caribbean has given me a huge store of visual memories. I enjoy putting them down on canvas.”
The IRC Courthouse is one of four venues for the Art in Public Places initiative of the Cultural Council of Indian River County. The other venues are the IRC Administration Buildings A and B, the Intergenerational Recreation Center and the Vero Beach Municipal Airport. New shows are rotated regularly every three to four months.
