Patrick James Currier, 37, Colorado
(1984-2022)
Patrick James Currier, age 37, died suddenly in Littleton, Colorado, on June 10th, 2022, due to pneumonia. Patrick was born on June 15th, 1984, in Detroit, Michigan, to Dennis and Susan (Toth) Currier. Known to many as PJ, he graduated from Lahser High School in 2003, where he was an excellent lacrosse player and later became a coach. He moved to the Denver area in January 2014 and eventually found his chosen family in Littleton, Colorado. Patrick enjoyed working in the food and beverage industry and had obtained his certification as a Level 1 Sommelier. He was known for being a kindhearted soul who never gave it a second thought to help those he loved in his life. PJ was proud to share that he was from Detroit, Michigan, and loved his Irish heritage. His favorite things were his times at Walloon and Cass Lake, living in the beautiful state of Colorado, golfing with friends and family, watching the Red Wings, #24 Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers first baseman, Marvel, and having conversations with his friends. He also cherished his beautiful dog, Odin.
Survivors include his parents, Susan (Toth) Currier of Florida and Dennis Currier of Texas; siblings Thomas (Michelle) Currier of Texas, Kaylin Weihs of California, Jean (Charlie) Williams of Colorado, Casey (Eli) Currier of New York; his beautiful nieces and nephews, Kevin, Kayleigh, Michael, Lily, and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Florence “Honey” Toth, paternal grandmother Jean McCann, and his beloved first dog, Snow.

Edgar Jadwin, 95, Vero Beach
September 14, 1926 – June 27, 2022
Edgar Jadwin, 95, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away on June 27, 2022, with his family by his side. Born in 1926 in Junction City, KS, to Colonel Cornelius C. and Eleanor Jadwin, Ed grew up as an army “brat” living in Forts Riley and Leavenworth (KS), Fort Ethan Allen (VT), West Point (NY), Fort Robinson (NE), Washington, D.C., Rome, Berlin, Germany and Switzerland. As a boy, Ed was fortunate to attend the 1936 Olympics in Berlin where his father competed as a member of the US Equestrian Team. Ed attended the Hotchkiss School for two years, leaving to matriculate at Princeton University before being drafted into the U.S. Army for World War II.
As a Second Lieutenant, Infantry, Ed served in Casablanca, French Morocco, North Africa as S-3 and Surplus Property Officer for the North African Service Command. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics (1950), where he was a member of Charter Club and captained the swimming team in 1949 and 1950.
From 1950 until 1960, Ed rose to be the Administrative Vice President of Cameron Machine Co. and then joined Krementz & Co., a major jewelry manufacturer in Newark, NJ, for 31 years, retiring as Executive Vice-President in 1991. He also served as President of the industry organization, the Jewelers Vigilance Committee.
In 1952, Ed married Lois Breckley of Mountain Lakes, NJ. They raised their family in Madison, NJ and Normandy Beach, NJ until moving to Vero Beach, FL in 2001.
In retirement, Ed became active in SCORE, helping several retailers launch their businesses. He also became very interested in genealogy and worked extensively on his family’s history. Ed’s biggest project was his memoir, “From a Military Life to a Civilian World”, which he self-published in 2016. Ed and Lois were members of St. Augustine Episcopal Church, where he served on the Finance Committee, and Vero Beach Country Club, where he helped organize inter-club tournaments. A highlight of Ed’s later years was his participation in an Honor Flight with other veterans in 2013.
He is survived by his wife, Lois, of almost 70 years, and two daughters, Susan Hargens of Madison, NJ, and Peggy Jadwin (Tim Pepowski) of Lake Forest, IL, as well as three grandchildren, Kyle Hargens (Maria), Brett Pepowski and Dana Pepowski, and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at the West Chapel at Indian River Estates in Vero Beach, FL on August 25 at 2:00 pm.

Carol Louise Eakins, 82, Vero Beach
January 15, 1940 – July 13, 2022
Carol Louise Eakins, age 82, of Vero Beach, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital following a brief illness.
Carol was born January 15, 1940, in New Eagle, Pennsylvania to parents, Vincent A. and Margaret J. Fields Eckels.
She was of a “Class of 1958” graduate of Monongahela High School, Monongahela, PA.
Carol, of Christian faith, worked as a cook and retired in the early 1990’s from the infamous St. Anne’s Convent, of Melbourne, Kentucky, where memorable scenes from the movie “Rain Man” were shot in May of 1988. Carol always enjoyed sharing this bit of trivia with folks she met.
She moved to Vero Beach in 2009, coming from Newport, Kentucky.
Carol is survived by her sister, Peggy Ward; nephew, Billy Klingensmith, niece, Arhonda T. Guinn; and numerous nephews, great nephews, and nieces of Washington, PA.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Charles E. Eckels.
Private services will be held at a later date in Pittsburgh, PA.

Sandra Heath Ellis, 61, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed away July 10, 2022.
Born July 2, 1961 in Cairo, NY, she was a daughter of the late George Heath and Evelyn Gorts Heath.
Sandra was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1979 and a proud member of the ROTC. She has worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years and was currently employed with Toyota of Vero Beach.
Sandra was very gifted in arts & crafts, and could create just about anything she put her mind to.
She is survived by her husband, Rodney Ellis; her loving daughters, Stacey (Jon) Cade, & Jenny (Wes) Kraft; five grandchildren, Skylar, Hunter, Madelyn, Makayla and Kaitlyn; brothers, Charles (Judy) Heath, Larry Heath, Rick Heath, and David (Nancy) Heath; sisters, Beverly (Rick) Campbell & Nancy Heath-Coleman;

James Bradley Russell Jr., 59, Sebastian
May 23, 1963 – July 12, 2022
Mr. James Bradley Russell Jr., 59, of Sebastian, Florida passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian.
Brad was born in Falls Church, Virginia moved to Sebastian 15 years ago from Weare, New Hampshire.
He had been a Construction Superintendent for Proctor Construction. Brad loved to build and enjoyed each day at work doing what he loved. Fishing was also pretty high on that list as well.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 23 years, Janice Russell of Sebastian, father James Bradley Russell of Lynchburg, Virginia, siblings Joe Russell and Terri Russell of Lynchburg, Virginia, stepson Michael Fitzgerald, stepdaughter Jessica (Edward) Sanders-Clay, and a grandson Jasper Sanders as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Lee Jordan.

Charlotte (Acker) Carlson, 79, Roseland
February 26, 1943 – July 1, 2022
Charlotte (Acker) Carlson, 79, of Roseland, FL died July 01, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. “Cy” – as family and friends knew her – was born to William L. and Charlotte (Skivens) Acker on February 26, 1943. Raised in Douglaston, NY and South Bend, IN, she was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy in South Bend, and Stephens College, Class of 1963. After college, Cy moved to the Lehigh Valley where she worked for Rodale Press in Allentown, PA. It was while working at Rodale that she met her future husband, John, at the Haviland Inn on her birthday in 1965. While they were dating, Cy had a risqué (for the time) role in the play “Pal Joey” at the Civic Little Theatre. John would wait by the stage door every night to ward off any overzealous “fans”. They would be married for almost 37 years before his death in 2002.
Cy and John spent most of their married life in Catasauqua, PA in a large home where they raised their daughters Charlotte and Rachel, and John’s cousin Barbara who came to live with them at age 13 after losing both of her parents. Additionally, Cy acted as a surrogate mother to exchange students from Holland, Brazil, France and England. Many other family members also came to live with them over the years, including her sister Liz and brother Tom, her mother, and John’s parents.
Cy was well known for entertaining and the soirees in Catasauqua were legendary affairs with lots of good food, cocktails, laughing and singing (often accompanied by Cy strumming her baritone ukulele). Those parties continued with the new friends she made after they moved to Roseland. Cy made friends wherever she went and was only too happy to gather people together or help those in need.
In addition to being a consummate entertainer, Cy was very involved as a volunteer in her community. Organizations she was involved with include the Junior League of the Lehigh Valley, Friends of the Catasauqua Public Library, Historic Catasauqua Preservation Association, board member of the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority, Roseland Community Association, Junior League of Indian River County, Sebastian Rotary, and she was an election poll worker. She was also an avid reader and belong to several book clubs.
Cy was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Carlson. She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Carlson Waitner and husband John of Sebastian, FL; Rachel Boultinghouse and husband Rick of Oak Park, IL; brothers William “Bill” Acker, and wife Clare of Tunbridge Wells, UK; Thomas “Tom” Acker and wife Diana of Grand Junction, CO; and sister Elizabeth “Liz” Philo and her husband Dick of Sebastian, FL and 9 nieces and nephews. She was a loving grandmother to Charlotte VII, three step grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
Cy will be laid to rest at sea with her beloved John. A celebration of her life will be held at a future date; please contact family for details. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, or VNA/Hospice of Indian River County. Finally, Cy would ask that you make your voice heard and vote in all elections.
