United Way Day of Caring Tradition Back October 15

United Way Day of Caring Tradition Back October 15

Nonprofits encouraged to submit projects for annual volunteer event

VERO BEACH, June 8, 2022 – United Way’s 27th annual Day of Caring is a community-wide effort that connects businesses and volunteers to provide short-term, service opportunities to nonprofit and public organizations in need.

“We are eager to get this tradition back after a nearly three-year hiatus,” said Stacy Benezra, Community Impact Coordinator. “I believe our nonprofit community, corporate partners, and volunteers are ready to roll up their sleeves and provide the much-needed assistance to these agencies.”

On Saturday, October 15, 2022, the one-day event will begin with the kick-off breakfast at the Vero Beach High School Citrus Bowl. Projects can be submitted online at UnitedWayIRC.org/DOC. The registration deadline to submit projects is Friday, September 23, 2022.

All Indian River County nonprofits, churches, and schools are invited and encouraged to participate. Various types of projects have been accomplished in the past, including painting, organizing, clerical work, light construction, gardening, landscape, and general clean-up. Organizations do not have to be a current partner of United way to apply.

“Together, we must rally around these organizations who have tirelessly helped others throughout the pandemic,” said Meredith Egan, Chief Executive Officer. “Historically, our community has been so generous in its time and support, that I expect our Day of Caring to be the biggest one yet! The last time we gathered was in 2019 when approximately 1,200 of our neighbors helped complete 67 projects.”

To submit a project, please visit UnitedWayIRC.org/DOC or contact Stacy Benezra at  [email protected] or (772) 567-8900, ext. 120. For sponsorship opportunities, please  contact Sydney Mihailoff at [email protected]
