Tour GYAC, the “Miracle on 43rd Street,” March 10

GIFFORD, Fla. – Monday, February 21, 2022 – The Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC) will be hosting an open house on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. The Center’s open house will give guests a glimpse of GYAC’s mission in motion: to create, with God’s guidance, educational, cultural and social opportunities that enhance the lives of the youth and families we serve.

Approximately 200 students in grades kindergarten through twelfth, from across Indian River County, are enrolled in GYAC’s educational afterschool program. Four days per week, students receive homework assistance and, if needed, one-on-one tutoring. Weekly enrichment activities include lessons in employability skills, gardening, percussion, barbering and cosmetology. In addition, students participate in several off-site cultural and social outings throughout the year.

In June, GYAC’s enrollment balloons to more than 300 students who attend the Center’s summer program. Educational instruction continues throughout the summer, while allowing plenty of time for afternoon recreation, including weekly trips to the pool and skating rink.

That’s not all. For senior citizens, GYAC also hosts weekly exercise classes: low impact aerobics and qigong, as part of its Beyond Special K (BSK) program. A mobile food pantry for those in need and food delivery for nearby homebound seniors is another function of BSK.

Learn more about GYAC during one of our famous “red carpet tours,” led by Freddie Woolfork, GYAC’s Director of Public Relations and Facilities Operations. Following the tour, enjoy refreshments and a Q&A session on the open-air patio.

See firsthand why your neighbors support GYAC’s mission and what makes GYAC Indian River County’s “Miracle on 43rd Street.” An RSVP is kindly requested. For more information or to RSVP, please call 772.794.1005 or visit www.gyac.net.
