Joseph Robert Byers, 87, Fort Pierce
June 01, 1934 – September 27, 2021
Joseph Robert Byers, Fort Pierce, FL formerly of Kokomo, IN went to his eternal home the morning of September 27, 2021. He was born June 1, 1934, in Leeds, AL to William and Laura (Woodard) Byers. The family moved to Gary, Indiana where he grew up and attended the “great Gary schools.”
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Linda (Teter) Byers, whom he married November 29, 1958, in Kokomo, IN. Also surviving are three children and their spouses, Joseph Jr. and Denise Byers, Coppell, TX; Lori and Michael Creighton, Mead, WA; Julie and Paul Beihold, Carmel, IN; six grandchildren, Kayla Creighton, Aaron and Angela Creighton, Cameron and Michelle Creighton, Stephen Beihold, Anne Beihold, Ava Rose Byers; and three great-grandchildren Felix Finck, Dean Creighton and Dallas Creighton.
Mr. Byers enlisted in the Air Force at age 18 to serve his country during the Korean War. He retired from Chrysler Corporation in Kokomo, IN. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing. He was a great fan of college sports, especially the Purdue Boilermakers. Above all, he was a devoted family man.
He will be greatly missed!

Betty Lou Biggles, 67, Vero Beach

Mrs. Betty Lou Biggles, 67, of Vero Beach passed away on September 25, 2021.
Betty Lou was born in Hollywood, FL, on February 10, 1954 to the proud parents of Earnest James King and Edria Marie (Sargent) King.
She attended and graduated from Okeechobee High School. Settling in Vero Beach, she was a member of King’s Baptist Church. She proudly taught Awanis and Children’s Sunday School.
Betty was employed by Publix in both Okeechobee and Vero Beach before retiring.
From her side of the family include Linda Rucks, Judy Going, Jackie King (Raymond), Ernest King (Angela) and Sheila Votino (Bill). Betty was blessed with multiple nieces and nephews which she loved dearly.
Her hobbies included gardening, crafts, painting, collectables and teaching children at the church.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Wilson Darrell Biggles and two sons; Brian Dwight Freeman and deceased son Brent Damian Freeman. Her step sons include Michael Darrell, Mark Anthony, Mitchell Wayne and step daughter Melissa Rene Biggles. Her sisters in law include Sandy Brackett (Bob) and Carol Lynn (Nancy).
Viewing will be held at Strunk Funeral Home on Friday, October 1, 6-8pm. Viewing and services at The King’s Baptist Church, 3235 58th Avenue on Saturday, 10-11am, followed by the service.

Kerilyn Elizabeth Redish, 43, Vero Beach
November 11, 1977 – September 24, 2021
Mrs. Kerilyn Elizabeth Redish, 43, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, September 24, 2021, at Sebastian River Medical Center.
Kerilyn was born in Rochester, Michigan, and after living with her family in Arkansas for several years, she spent the majority of her life living in Texas. She attended school in Gainesville Texas, and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1999. While going to college she was actively employed at the Boys and Girls club of Gainesville Texas, and young adults still recall the difference she made in their lives. Following her graduation, Keri served in the Peace Corps for two years, living in Senegal West Africa providing education in health and AIDS prevention. When she returned home, she taught in the Irving school district in Texas. In 2012 Kerilyn and her daughter Ava moved to the Treasure Coast. She was teacher at Sebastian River High School for 8 years before changing employment to Keiser University where she was assisting the Treasure Coast school districts in decreasing the graduation dropout rate. Education and helping those students that only needed ” a little help” to succeed rather than failing was her passion. Always striving for improvement within her life in an effort to guide others Kerilyn was nearing completion of her Master’s Degree.
There was not anything more important to her than her family and she truly LOVED her life. In 2018 Kerilyn married her beloved soulmate, Jim Redish. Anyone who ever saw them together could tell how they adored each other, and Keri loved having the large “bonus” family she married into. She would always say “my heart is so full”.
As a devoted educator at Sebastian River High School, the students and staff became an extended family for her. From her community involvement to her church, she seized each day as an opportunity to further the lives of others. Anyone who ever met her, loved her.
Survivors include husband James Redish and their children Ava, Julia, Jensen, Justin, and Erica all of Vero Beach, her mother Sharon Herman of Sebastian, brother Thomas Herman (Jennifer) ( William, Gabriel, Kristina, Kortney) of Sebastian, sister Pamela Scott (Damian)
(Alexis, Leighton, Reese) of Fort Worth, Texas, maternal grandmother Beatrice McKinney of Sebastian, paternal grandmother Agatha Herman of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, mother-in-law Mary Lu Sturgis Redish of Vero Beach, Brother in law Jeff Redish (Gillie, Reese, Lulu) , Aunts and Uncles: Joe and Karen Herman Chesterfield Michigan, Carol and Gary Jones Twin Falls Idaho, Maryanne and Lief Rolke Germany, Ina Ottens Netherlands, Denise Emerine and Deana Vargo Lawrenceville Georgia, Dennis and Linda McKinney Skokie Illinois, Fred Land Warren Michigan, and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Michael Howard Herman, paternal grandfather William Herman, maternal grandfather Dennis McKinney, Paternal Aunt Lynne Land, and father-in-law Jack Redish.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, 1729 17th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960, or any Sebastian River High School, 9001 90th Avenue, Sebastian, FL 32958 organization that benefits the students.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958.
The family will receive friends 10-12 Noon, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Riverside Church Assembly of God, 11205 Roseland Road, Sebastian, FL 32958 with a funeral service celebrating her life beginning at 12 Noon at the church.
