High Impact grant funding available for teachers and schools

HIGH IMPACT GRANT FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS 

Letter of Idea Proposals are now being accepted by The Education Foundation of Indian River County for 2021-2022 High Impact Grants. Individual teachers and school principals are encouraged to submit a Letter of Idea outlining proposals for classroom, grade-level, or school-wide projects. Seventeen proposals were submitted  last year and $62,406.34 was awarded to nine High Impact Grant finalists. These  proposals can be viewed on the Education Foundation website

All Indian River County public and public-charter schools are eligible to participate in  the competitive process. Successful proposals will address one of the following four  (4) areas, with a focus on increasing student achievement: school culture/climate  (social/emotional supports), science (K-12), math (K-12), or reading (K-12). The  grant request can support a new project or expand upon a proven model. Projects are  required to include measurable outcomes and plans for sustainability. Grants of up to  $10,000 will be considered. 

The deadline for Letters of Idea submission is September 3rd and proposals will be  reviewed during the week of September 6th-10th, 2021. Selected finalists will present  to a panel of Education Foundation board members, local funders, and a  representative of the SDIRC during the week of September 13th-17th. The panel will  announce funded projects the week of September 21st with grant awards distributed by  October 20th to be spent by June 30th, 2022. 

A Letter of Idea must detail the following information on no more than two (2) pages  using an 11-point font. · Project Name · Project Information · How the project aligns  with the SDIRC Strategic Plan and/or the School Improvement Plan · Amount  requested · Total project cost · Targeted population · Number of children to be 

served, including grade-level(s) · Succinct summary – The issue, the change, and the  action: The Issue – What challenge of opportunity will this grant help your school  address? The Change – What change do you intend to see because of this grant? The  Action – What strategic activities will be included in this grant (what are the steps)? ·  Grant oversight: Who will be responsible for the project? Who provides the oversight?  Who will ensure that the project is sustainable? · Monitoring progress and results:  How will progress and results be monitored and reported? · Volunteers: Does the  proposal provide an opportunity for community volunteers to support your school? If  so, how many volunteers, how often, and what days/times? · Itemized budget:  Provide a line by line, itemized budget of all items needed for the project, including cost. 

Funding for High Impact grants is made possible by a 1:1 matching grant program  through the Florida Legislature. Local match partners include United Way of Indian  River County; John’s Island Community Service League; Grand Harbor Community  Outreach Program; Head, Heart, and Hands of Indian River Golf Club; and Quail  Valley Charities.
