Gregory Christopher McCabe, 62, Sebastian

November 27, 1958 – May 15, 2021

Gregory Christopher McCabe, 62, Sebastian, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 15, 2021.
Gregory was born in Maryland in 1958 to the late Edward and Elizabeth McCabe. He attended Raynham Bridgewater Regional High School in Massachusetts before moving to Winter Park, Florida where he earned his GED. In 1978, he began his adventurous career with the United States Air Force as an F-4 Crew Chief.
Gregory served four years overseas at Rammstein AFB, Germany as an F-4 crew chief, and managed to travel to multiple places throughout Europe. He sent many postcards from all his travels to his family, to show that he was living the life. In 1982, he separated from the Air Force, and worked in a warehouse for almost two years. There he realized he missed the smell of jet fuel, and the sound of freedom. He re-enlisted in 1984 and continued his career as an F-16 and F-15 crew chief. He was stationed in Nellis AFB, Kunsan AB, Eglin AFB, Kimhae AB, and Tyndall AFB, with multiple deployments. At Tyndall AFB he retired at the rank of Technical Sergeant after a total of twenty-one years.
Gregory then went to work random jobs until he landed a spot at Boeing. There he continued working on aircraft as a Propulsion Technician. He worked on many types of engines for aircrafts to include the T-38 and 787 Dreamliner. After a few years he transitioned into an Avionics Technician position. He worked on multiple airframes, troubleshooting and repairing avionics systems before aircraft passed final inspections. He finally decided to retire from Boeing in 2013, and moved to Sebastian, Florida.
Gregory is survived by his children Colleen McCabe of Sebastian, Florida; and Andrew McCabe of Las Vegas, Nevada. He is survived by his only grandchild Olivia McCabe of Sebastian, Florida. He is also survived by his five brothers, Edward Jr., Brian, Michael, Steven, and David; his two sisters, Brenda, and Maureen; and all his cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Gregory’s burial will be held on (Date) from (Time) at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.
