Residents in Port St. Lucie – especially in St. Lucie West – are encouraged to keep a sharp eye out after a series of smash-and-grab vehicle burglaries were reported around town.
Police have surveillance images of two suspects who used a victim’s credit card to purchase gift cards at the Rivergate Publix. The suspects are described as black males in their early 20s with gold teeth standing between 5 feet, 9 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall, both with medium builds.
A suspicious vehicle was spotted near the St. Lucie West Wal-Mart, where one burglary occurred. That vehicle is described as being a newer model red Dodge Charger.
According to police, four auto burglaries have been reported between Dec. 21 and Dec. 26 from public parking lots. The suspects smash vehicle windows and reach in, grabbing valuables including purses and bags.
The following burglaries have been reported:
- Wal-Mart, NW St. Lucie West Blvd., Dec. 21 between 9:22 and 9:30 a.m. – Zipper bag taken.
- LA Fitness, NW St. Lucie West Blvd., Dec. 22 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. – Bags taken.
- Turtle Run Park, SW Cameo Blvd., Dec. 26 between 4 p.m. and 4:53 p.m. – Purse taken.
- Rivergate Boat Ramp, SE Veterans Memorial Pkwy., Dec. 26 between 4:40 p.m. and 5 p.m. – Purse taken.
