INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A man was seriously hurt after being struck by a pickup truck while walking Sunday evening, fire rescue crews said.
An update on the man’s condition was not immediately available Monday. The man’s name, age and town of residence were not released.
The crash happened at 6:20 p.m. at 27th Avenue and 5th Street Southwest, Indian River County Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Jamie Coleman said. The crash area was northwest of South County Park.
Coleman said the injured man was initially unresponsive, but then regained consciousness. The man was taken by ambulance to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute in Fort Pierce.
The driver and passenger in the truck, both men, were not hurt, Coleman said.
Coleman said Florida Highway Patrol will investigate the cause of the collision. An FHP representative was not immediately available for comment.
