David Anthony Chambless, 78, Vero Beach
David Anthony Chambless, 78, of Vero Beach, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 16, 2020. He was born to the late Cecil Chambless and Beatrice Laughridge Chambless on Feb. 19, 1942. in West Palm Beach.
After moving to Vero Beach, he and his family attended First Baptist Church.
David was a 1960 graduate of Vero Beach High School and attended Palm Beach Junior College.
He married the love of his life, Corinn Rogers, on Aug. 21, 1964, at First Baptist Church in Vero Beach, recently celebrating 55 years of marriage.
David’s young life was filled with a love of all sports including Little League and basketball. After High School he became an avid tennis player who was highly competitive and rated in the state of Florida. He had a servant’s heart ready and willing to serve in any capacity. He was a devoted husband and father to his three daughters and a much beloved grandfather to his five grandchildren. He was gifted with a tremendous sense of humor and loved making people laugh. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping in North Carolina and traveling with his wife. One of his greatest joys later in life was playing with his five grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Lambert, in 2016.
He is survived by his wife, Corinn; daughters, Jona Jeremy and husband Brent of Vero Beach, and Sheila Cornelius and husband Rob of Trinidad, Colorado; son in law Ron Lambert of Vero Beach; one brother, Ed Chambless of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Kevin Lambert and wife Kendi, Rebecca Lambert, Keith Lambert, Morgan Jeremy and Savannah Jeremy, all of Vero Beach.
A celebration of his life will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Cox-Gifford Seawinds.

John Conrad Langenberg Jr., 64, Sebastian
John Conrad Langenberg Jr., 64, of Sebastian, died Oct. 16, 2020, at VITAS Inpatient Hospice Unit in Rockledge, Fla.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Langenberg; daughter, Jaime Langenberg; and son, Shawn Langenber, of Cadillac, Mi.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, from 4–6 p.m. at Strunk Funeral Home, 1623 North Central Ave., Sebastian, with a Celebration of John’s life be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Robert E. Purcell, 90, Vero Beach
Robert E. Purcell, 90, Vero Beach, was born on Jan. 5, 1930, in South Side Chicago, an identical twin to William “Bill” Purcell. He passed away Oct. 12, 2020.
He attended St. Bride Catholic School, De La Salle High School, and Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
After college, Bob joined the US Navy, and served as a Sea Bee (Construction Battalion Engineer) on Midway Island during the Korean War. Upon leaving the service, Bob joined the Chicago Police Department, starting what would become a 28-year career in law enforcement.
In February of 1956, he married the late Joyce Doherty, and they settled in on the South Side of Chicago, eventually ending up as active members of St. Cajetan parish in the Beverly neighborhood. They had three children: Jayne, Philip, and Amy. In 1986, he retired as a Detective Sergeant, having twice been decorated for bravery in the line of duty.
He enjoyed his retirement by continuing to work at a number of auto auctions in the Chicago area, and he and Joyce kept themselves busy by splitting their time between Chicago and Florida, where the family vacationed regularly as their children were growing up.
Bob & Joyce settled permanently in Vero Beach, Florida in 2009, and cherished the chance to spend quality time with their grandchildren. He was a regular fixture at lacrosse, basketball, and soccer matches whenever his grandkids were involved, and never missed a breakfast at Kountry Kitchen Restaurant. He was devastated at the loss of Joyce in 2017, but was grateful that she was at peace. He kept up his routines, and enjoyed every moment with his family right up until his health declined in late September.
Bob is survived by his loving daughters Jayne Purcell and Amy (Sean) Casey, his son Philip (Betty) Purcell, his grandchildren Brandon (Katie) Purcell, Mazie (Mike) Regan, Jack Purcell, and Owen, Declan and Jack Casey. He also leaves two great-grandchildren Mary Clare and Addison Purcell.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents late Raymond and Margaret (Gallagher) Purcell, by his brothers Ray Jr., Jim, and Tom, and his sister Anne (Dan) O’Connell. His twin brother Bill passed away in Chicago less than 72 hours after Bob.
Visitation will be held from 3– 6 p.m., Thursday Oct. 22, at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday Oct. 23 at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment with military honors will be held at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery at a later date.
