Voter registration deadline approaching for General Election

Supervisor of Elections Leslie Swan reminds Indian River County residents that they must be registered to vote by Monday, Oct. 5, in order to be eligible to vote in the Nov. 3 General Election. In accordance with Florida Statute 97.055, the registration books close on the 29th day before each election. Once the registration books close, new registrations may be accepted for the purpose of future elections only.

To be eligible to vote in the November General Election, voters must be at least 18 years of age, a US citizen, a legal resident of the State of Florida, and a resident of Indian River County.

On-line voter registration is available on the Supervisor of Elections website at VoteIndianRiver.com. Voter registration applications are also available at the Supervisor of Elections office, public libraries, county offices, city halls, and state agencies that provide public assistance. Completed applications must be delivered to the Supervisor of Elections office or postmarked by the close of business on Monday, Oct. 5.

Registered voters may check their registration status at VoteIndianRiver.com by selecting “Am I Registered?” on the homepage. Insert your first name, last name, and birthdate, and follow the online instructions. Voters may also call the Elections Office at 772-226-4700 to verify their registration status.
