The St. Lucie County Aquarium, featuring the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit, recently earned the Travelers’ Choice Award from TripAdvisor, based on the number of positive reviews and visits to the Aquarium for the past year. The designation means the Aquarium is one of the area’s Top 5 attractions.
This unique, environmental education center features more than 8,000 gallons of marine life, showcasing the various types of underwater habitats that make up the Treasure Coast. The 5,000-square-foot facility is operated in partnership the Smithsonian Marine Station, a branch of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History, and St. Lucie County’s Parks & Recreation Department.
Located at 420 Seaway Drive, Fort Pierce, the Aquarium is open – with limited capacity – Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, admissions are being spread out in 20-minute increments and visitors are required to wear a mask. The max amount of people per group is five. The touch tank is still currently a look-only tank. General admission is $3.25.
