INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A 33-year-old man who deputies said had nearly 60 grams of heroin mixed with fentanyl hidden in a vehicle, was detained last week.

Deputies arrested Randy Lee Brown Jr., of Fort Pierce, on charges of trafficking heroin and violation of driver’s license restrictions. Brown was released Wednesday from the Indian River County Jail on $100,500 bond.
Indian River County deputies responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle about 8 p.m. Feb. 25 in the Dunkin Donuts parking lot at 53rd Street and U.S. 1. The doughnut shop is the same location that was robbed at gunpoint Feb. 21, deputies noted.
Employees noticed the vehicle was parked for a long time period, got nervous and called law enforcement.
Deputies approached the black 2020 Ford pickup and spoke with the driver, identified as Brown, and a passenger. When deputies asked Brown why he was sitting in the parking lot, he replied “they were just meeting to talk,” reports show.
A K-9 deputy searched Brown’s vehicle and found a sandwich bag hidden under a Gatorade bottle in a cup holder. Inside were two mini bags that contained a brown substance.
The substance tested positive for heroin mixed with fentanyl, reports show.
Brown denied knowing about the narcotics, deputies said. Deputies also found Brown with $6,305 in cash, reports show.
Deputies arrested Brown and took him to the county jail. Brown has an arraignment at 8:45 a.m. April 3, court records show.
