Police still seeking armed robbery suspect

VERO BEACH — Police continue to search for an armed man who stole an undisclosed amount of cash and several cell phones Wednesday from a Boost Mobile store.

The man wore a black Chicago Bulls hat with a camouflage front in the incident. No injuries were reported, Vero Beach police spokesman Master Police Officer Darrell Rivers said.

Surveillance footage of the armed robbery was captured on the store’s cameras. It was unclear when police would release the footage to the public.

Officers said the man walked in the store about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, located at 1950 44th Avenue, just south of State Road 60 and east of Walmart. The man pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun before ordering the owner – the only person inside – to the back of the business, Rivers said. .

The man took money from a cash register and several high-priced cell phones, Rivers said. Officers think the man might have fled the scene in a vehicle.

It was unclear if the incident was related to any other thefts or robberies in the county.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 25 years old, 5-feet 11-inches and weighing about 170 pounds, Rivers said. The man was last seen wearing white camouflage shorts, a white T-shirt and a dark-colored shirt underneath.

Anyone who sees a man with the above description or who has any information on the suspect should contact police Detective Lee Evans at 772-978-4600.
