INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — A search warrant yielded the arrest of an Indian River County man who was using a file sharing program to share child pornography, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities took John Manchec, 69, of the 4000 block of Kodiak Drive in Vero Beach, into custody on Thursday. He now faces 49 charges of possession/promote/present/depict child sex conduct.
According to the arrest affidavit, Manchec told police he used a peer to peer file sharing program to download child pornography.
Manchec allegedly told police he downloaded the files “because he was curious.”
He is currently being held without bond. Authorities noted that his French passport may make Manchec a flight risk.
