What and Where: For more than a half-dozen years, downtown steak house Vero Prime has also featured a “best-of” assortment of dishes from bistros and trattorias restaurateur Roger Lenzi has operated over the past two decades. While the steaks are among Vero’s best, some other Lenzi favorites from the past are equally tempting.

Overall Verdict: Starting with the fondly remembered Avanzare, we have followed serial restaurateur Lenzi from restaurant startup to startup, enjoying a wide variety of dishes, always creative, never boring. When he moved to the current location of Vero Prime, which features expertly grilled steaks, he brought along dishes we loved from Avanzare, Scoozi, and other ventures. On a recent visit, I enjoyed the onion-crusted yellowtail snapper special – best rendition of this I’ve had in years.
