What and Where: While Cooper’s Chop House & Seafood, now in its third year, appears to be hitting its stride, most of the seating is in booths that are a bit tight. Coupled with the hard wooden bench seats – a relic of the previous Mr. Manatee’s – the dining experience is not as comfortable as you would might expect in a first-class steakhouse.

Ambiance/Atmosphere: Attractive dining room with open kitchen.

Must-Try Dishes: Any steak grilled Pittsburgh-style.

Adult Beverages: Full bar. Good wine selection by bottle or glass.

Reservations: Suggested

Price: $$-$$$

Rating: Three and a half stars

Overall Verdict: On a recent visit, the food and service were both very good. We started with a clam chowder similar to New England-style but with lots of lardons. Very tasty. I ordered a medium rare slice of the oven-roasted prime rib. Way too much to finish. My husband had the prime New York strip prepared Pittsburgh style. Charred on the outside, rare on the inside, the steak was grilled perfectly. Accompanied by a large baked potato and creamed spinach, a classic steakhouse dinner!
