Historical Society Hosts Pineapple Festival and Nature Tours

Vero Beach, FL.  Taking place on the grounds of the Hallstrom House, the Indian River County Historical Society will host the annual Pineapple Festival on Saturday, November 1st from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Admission is free. There will be kids’ activities and crafts, artisans, music, and food and beverages. Tours of the Hallstrom House are $5 per person. The Hallstrom House is located at 1723 Old Dixie Highway SW, Vero Beach 32962.

The morning of the Pineapple Festival, there are two guided nature tours in the Hallstrom Conservation Area located north of the Hallstrom House at 1605 Old Dixie Highway SW, Vero Beach 32962. The tours are with nature guide David Simpson. David has over 30 years of experience leading tours, is familiar with all aspects of Florida wildlife, and has an extensive knowledge of land management practices, local history, native plants, snakes, frogs, and many other critters you encounter in Florida. The first tour is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. until 8:45 a.m.. The second nature tour is from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.  The cost of either tour is $15 per person. You will learn basic local birdwatching tips while exploring the Florida Scrub and pine habitats of a variety of local birds, and Florida flora and fauna. Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring along binoculars, water bottle and snacks, and a notebook to record your observations. Cameras are optional.

For over thirty years, the Indian River County Historical Society has contributed to preserving the historical and environmental resources of Indian River County, the Indian River Lagoon area, and the State of Florida. Through educational programs, historical preservation, and community events, the Historical Society fosters a deep appreciation for our shared local heritage.
