Mary PT Archambault, 89, Vero Beach

July 23, 1936 – September 12, 2025

It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary PT Archambault, a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend. She passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and boundless love.

Mary was born on July 23, 1936 in Worcester, Massachusetts to Marshall and Corana (Poulin) Girouard. Growing up, she cultivated a love for people and religion that would stay with her throughout her life. Her infectious smile, and spirit of generosity were a constant source of joy to everyone who knew her.

In 1957, Mary married the love of her life, Leo J. Archambault, on June 8, 1957 at St. Aloysius Church in Leicester, MA., and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, faith, and mutual support. As a couple, they were a testament to true partnership, facing every challenge and celebrating every triumph hand-in-hand. Their love story and family was her greatest joy and passion.

Mary and her husband moved to New London, CT in 1959 where she built a loving home for her  family, with her husband Leo. Mary was a dedicated wife and mother to six beautiful children. She was active in the St. Paul’s Mother’s Circle and this grew into many lifelong friendships. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in New London, before moving to Norwich, CT where she was a parishioner of St. Patrick Cathedral. She retired to Vero Beach, FL in 2000 where she enjoyed many years of happiness with family and friends.

Mary’s greatest pride and joy, however, was her role as a mother to her children and grandchildren. She approached motherhood with endless patience, wisdom, and a fierce, unwavering love. Her children remember her as their biggest cheerleader, their trusted confidante, and the comforting presence that made their house a home. She instilled in them the values of kindness, hard work, and the importance of family, and her teachings will continue to guide them for the rest of their lives.

In addition to her family, Mary was an active and beloved member of her community. She volunteered her time at her children’s events and was a proud member of the St, Paul’s Mother’s Circle, where she was dedicated and developed lifelong friendships. Her kindness touched countless lives. Whether through her energetic spirit, offering prayers, cooking for neighbors, or her warm and welcoming smile, she had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen and special.

Mary is predeceased by her high school sweetheart and husband of 60 years, Leo and their son, Robert. She is survived by their five children: Ronald and wife Eileen (Hall) of Westerly, RI, Richard of Oakdale, CT, Ann Knowles and husband Patrick of Waterford, CT, Roy and wife Julie (Bruno) of Ashaway, RI, and Amy Narducci of Holly Springs, NC; 16 grandchildren: Alexx, Logan, Stephanie, Sarah, Ryan, Mark, Alicia, Lydia, Griffen, Lauren, Adam, Julia, Abigail, Brady, James, Jessica and Jacob, 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Lorraine Holloway of Vero Beach, FL and Marshall Girouard and his wife Mary of Fuquay Varina, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved. She was predeceased by a sister Madeline Goodney of Vero Beach, FL

The family will greet friends on Sunday, September 21st from 3:00 -5:00 p.m. at Impelliterri-Malia Funeral Home 84 Montauk Avenue, New London. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 22nd, 2025 at 10 o’clock in the morning, at St. Patrick Cathedral, Norwich with burial for the immediate family at their convenience.

Though we mourn her loss, we find comfort in knowing that Mary’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all those she loved. Her memory will be treasured forever.

Judith Hastings (Wasson) Motta 90, of Vero Beach, FL passed away peacefully at her home on September 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with IPF. Born March 31, 1935, in Newton, Massachusetts to William Mott Wasson and Esther Alberta Zwicker. Judy lived with a ferocious righteousness that put her family and others before herself, her zest for life touched all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Judy embraced learning and upon graduating from Newton High School, she continued her education earning degrees from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD)-Bachelor of Fine Arts, the University of Miami – masters in art education and Florida International University – Doctorate in management and a Doctorate in fine arts.

She began her art career as the catalog layout designer with Harry Klitzner jewelry company in Providence, Rhode Island where she met her late husband Alfred E. Motta. She continued working in Providence as an illustrator for Paramount greeting cards and then as an illustrator and catalog layout designer for Macy’s and Montgomery Ward department stores. She and Alfred relocated to Coral Gables, FL in 1961 where they were married and had two children. Shortly after Alfred’s death in 1964, Judy began teaching high school commercial art for the Dade County Public school system, a vocation that she flourished at for 32 years. She taught with a fervent passion that inspired her students and caused them to refer to her as “Mad Dog Motta”.

Judy moved to Vero Beach in 2003 to be closer to her grandchildren. She was a member of the Vero Beach Art Club and Vero Beach Community Church where she was a deacon for several years. When she wasn’t spending time with her family, Judy participated in ballroom dancing, Under the Oaks art shows, sidewalk art shows and volunteered at The Source and the jail doing art therapy.

Judy had a passion for travel, the outdoors and ballroom dancing.
