Elegant John’s Island pool home comes with striking fairway vistas

Tucked behind a lush island of vibrant foliage, the elegant home at 376 Island Creek Dr. in John’s Island was designed by architects Mark Vigneault and Tom Hoos and built by RCL Development.

The private retreat is a striking example of symmetry, with a circular drive gracefully curving around a landscaped island, guiding guests toward a home that balances classic design with natural seclusion.

The U-shaped footprint directs guests to the welcoming loggia, where a large, wooden door opens into the gallery – a central hallway that is a pivotal access point to the three major areas of the house.

“Everything is very well thought out, with gracious living spaces,” says Kristen Yoshitani, John’s Island Real Estate broker associate.

Three archways along the gallery provide entry into the great room, where a fireplace at one end offers a cozy seating area for guests to gather and chat, leaving ample room for dining on the opposite side of the room near the wet bar.

The ivory-stacked stone surround of the fireplace is a lovely contrast to the warmth of the Brazilian cherry-wood flooring, making the fireplace stand out from across the room even when a fire isn’t lit.

A trio of French doors with transoms and several large windows take full advantage of the long views of the South Course fairway, with a large, meandering water feature shimmering among mature, moss-covered oak trees, adding to the tranquility to the setting.

“The beautiful high ceilings and transom windows bring in western light from the front of the house,” says Yoshitani.

This well-built home has fine features throughout, with wood flooring, plantation shutters, coffered ceilings, deep baseboards, linear diffusers and arched doorways.

This is a one-owner home and was immaculately kept, says Yoshitani.

The layout allows for separation between living and sleeping areas. The primary suite and two guest suites are along one leg of the U-shaped floorplan while the third guest suite – currently used as an office – is accessed at the end of the opposite leg.

The air-conditioned, two-car garage, laundry room, kitchen and breakfast room are strategically located on the east side of the house, adding functionality and privacy.

The gourmet kitchen features a large island and premium appliances, including a 36-inch Wolf stove, a wall oven and a warming drawer. Warm wood floors are a lovely contrast to the white cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The sunny breakfast nook opens onto the covered loggia, extending your dining options into the outdoor living spaces.

Two guest suites, a powder room and the primary suite complete the west wing on the opposite side of the house. Both wings have private entries from the front courtyard, allowing guests to come and go without traversing the communal gathering areas.

The primary suite is accessed from the great room through a vestibule, which adds a measure of separation. A large window frames the panoramic view of the 13th and 14th holes of the South Course from the spacious bedroom, which has French doors that open to the pool.

Two separate bathing areas elevate the elegance of this sanctuary with a walk-thru shower, two toilets, two sinks, a vanity, a soaking tub and a walk-in closet.

Outside, the expansive, covered loggia creates a cool spot to relax away from the sun, while substantial pads at either end of the resort-like pool provide ample space for sunning yourself. A bench runs the pool length so you can sit and soak while you read and relax.

A more sequestered space off the breakfast nook and kitchen allows for intimate dining and drinks alongside the outdoor fireplace. Yoshitani notes the gas line has been stubbed out for the installation of a gas grill. That, along with the propane tank and the whole house generator, ensures you’re prepared for summer cookouts – and storms.

Lush landscaping creates privacy without diminishing the expansive views of the South Course across the water hazard. There’s plenty to watch as a faunal diversity walks along the water’s edge and golfers wend their way past the roughs and water hazard of the 13th and 14th holes.

Noting the northeastern exposure and stunning view, Yoshitani says, “It’s really quiet. It’s nice to have the water hazard as a buffer.”

The house is sited such that ocean breezes keep things cool, and offers long, relaxing golf views without giving up privacy.

Yoshitani notes the home is located close to the community’s south gate for easy access, yet it’s still not too far from the club.

John’s Island Club is an elite, member-owned, country club community stretching between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River Lagoon. Amenities include dining, three championship golf courses, Har-Tru clay tennis courts, pickleball courts, croquet lawns, squash courts, club houses, a fitness center, and a beach club.
