 SCSO plays music of legendary Hollywood composer     

(VERO BEACH, FL) May 12, 2025 – The Empire Strikes BackClose Encounters of the Third Kind. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. All of these movies have something in common: Powerful film scores by Hollywood’s most lauded composer, John Williams. Fans of the legendary composer can hear an entire concert devoted to these and other blockbuster hits when the Space Coast Symphony Orchestra presents, The Best of John Williams on Sunday, May 25 at 3:00 PM. The concert at Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th Street in Vero Beach will allow concertgoers to hear many of their favorite themes in a live orchestral performance, including music from such films as Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, The Cowboys, JFK, Far and Away and more. Select youth musicians from around Central Florida will perform side-by-side on the second half of the program with their professional SCSO counterparts, bringing the total number of players onstage to over 120. Cosplay enthusiasts of all ages are invited to come dressed in costume inspired by their favorite John Williams’ film. $35 tickets for The Best of John Williams are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at Marine Bank & Trust, beachside and mainland branches. Five-time Academy Award and 25-time Grammy Award winner, John Williams has been composing film scores for Hollywood’s blockbusters for more than 60 years. His collaborations with directors Steven Spielberg and George Lucas alone have left a treasured body of work for the ages. For Aaron T. Collins, Space Coast Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Artistic Director, the concert is the perfect close for his group’s 2024-25 performing season.

“It’s impossible to overstate John Williams’ contribution to film music and modern orchestral music overall,” said Maestro Collins. “But even more than that, his music makes an impact every day on people all over the world. He is a giant.”

The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is one of only a handful of U.S. orchestras to perform year-round. The orchestra’s Season 17 will be announced in late May.
