GIFFORD, Fla. – Tuesday, May 20, 2025 – Parents and caregivers looking for an affordable, safe, and structured environment for children over the summer should look no further than the Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC). With a balanced diet of education and recreation, Summer Camp at GYAC is all about preparing for the school year ahead and reviewing concepts students may have struggled with during the school year.
According to a study by Brown University, during the summer, a little more than half of students exhibit summer learning losses, while the other half exhibits summer learning gains. Learning gains and loses are a direct result of how students spend their summer.
“GYAC’s summer camp disrupts summer learning loss by engaging students in daily educational activities and hands-on learning,” explained Angelia Perry, GYAC’s executive director. “Mornings are dedicated to classroom style learning, while afternoons are reserved for a variety of recreational activities like swimming, skating, tennis, bowling, gardening, art exploration and more.” Campers also enjoy off-campus trips to places like McKee Gardens, Kennedy Space Center, SIMCOM Aviation Training and the Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast.
New this year: GYAC’s nine-week summer camp registration is divided into two blocks. Block one runs June 2 – July 3, and block two runs July 7 – August 1. Camp hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and activities are included in the cost of camp. The full camp for one student is $450, for two students $675, for three students $855 and for four or more students $1125. A $50 non-refundable deposit per child is due at registration, and all fees are due by May 23rd. Need-based scholarships are available upon request.
GYAC’s Summer Camp is open to students entering 1st – 12th grade. Campers are placed according to their grade level, and space is limited. Learn more and register at mygyac.org.
