Mother Annie Lee Moore Powell

August 8, 1945 – April 27, 2025

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, God called His “Faithful Servant” Annie Lee Moore Powell home to be with Him. Annie, affectionately known “GIGI” was surrounded by her three loving children Dorothy, Iva and Isaac.

Annie was born on August 8, 1945, along with her TWIN sister, Fannie Lee Moore Stephens “Fan”, to Joseph Algernon Moore and Dorothy Mae Moore. Ann was preceded by death in by both parents and five siblings, Zima, Robert, Joseph, Sallie, John “JC” and her TWIN sister Fan.

On July 17, 1966, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Isaac Powell Jr. This union produced three beautiful children, Dorothy, Iva and Isaac III.

Ann worked in the Indian River County School System early on as a Teacher’s Assistant and later at Indian River Memorial Hospital as a Sterile Prep Tech until she retired.

Ann accepted Christ at an early age attending Church of God by Faith in the “The Low End” of Gifford, FL. Her strong faith in God and yearning for knowledge of the Holy Bible led her to graduate with her Doctorate Degree from Jacksonville College of Theology. Annie was a high school graduate from the one and only Gifford High School, Class of 1964 (GO TIGERS!). She also attended Indian River Community College (Indian River State College) graduated with an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education.

Ann never found herself without a church home. Over the years she attended Church of God by Faith, Wabasso, FL – Elder Charlie Jones, Macedonia Baptist Church – Elder William Richardson, and was a current member at First Born Church of the Living God – Elder Lucille Grubbs. She loved speaking and sharing the Word of God in church, with family and any passerby. In June 2024 she met two passersby of Faith, June and Lorna and shortly afterwards they began to have weekly bible study at home together.

Our mother was authentic, unique, loving, compassionate, supportive, caring, loyal, stylish, friendly, humorous, giving and independent. Let’s not forget FEISTY & SASSY! She gave when she didn’t have, and yet, she was a blessing in her giving. Last, but certainly not least, she was FORGIVING!

She loved baking, crocheting, traveling, eating seafood and assisted delivering. She was a doula to several in her family and in the community. She was very supportive of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren in their academic achievements as well as their extracurricular activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Joseph Algernon & Dorothy Mae Moore; brothers: Zima, Robert, John (JC), Joseph; sisters: Sallie and her twin sister Fannie.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her loving children: Dorothy E. Powell-Cobb, Iva JoAnn Powell, Isaac Powell, III; grandchildren: Iris “Starr” Broomfield (Corey), DeAndres “Dee” Bellamy, Deondra Powell, Ikéa LeAnn Powell, Kejuan Isaiah Bennett, Jada Alexandria Powell, Mason Joseph Powell, Jeanne Perry, Caysi Ann Sparks; nine great grandchildren; siblings: Clare Moore Brown, John Morris Moore (Gale), Norma Moore Wilson (Larry); and a host of other family members and sorrowing friends who will miss her.
