Care Net Pregnancy Center’s 41st Walk for Life on March 22nd had an amazing turnout of nearly 400 walkers, with participants choosing between a 2.5-mile or 1-mile route. Over 50 volunteers helped ensure the event ran smoothly, with churches and individuals coming together to support the cause.
Sara Saparito won the individual walker Grand Prize, while Pastor Steve Jones of Vero Christian Church won the pastor Grand Prize. King’s Baptist Church had the most participants, and five local youth groups joined in teen games led by Care Net’s Student Services Director, Alli Cafeo. King’s Baptist youth won the pizza party. Generously donated by local businesses, raffle prizes were awarded to 25 walkers.
Jeremiah’s Italian Ice and Christ Fellowship’s food truck provided complimentary treats, while Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice donated orange juice and local churches Ryanwood Fellowship and Westminster Presbyterian provided water stations to keep the walkers hydrated. Julie Dressler, one of Care Net’s nurses, educated kids on fetal development with baby models.
The event’s theme was “Walk in Peace” based on Jesus’ words in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid”.
This family-friendly event helps Care Net continue offering free services to local women and families during pregnancy and parenting. For donations, contact Executive Director Bonnie Martinelli at 772.539.1667 or visit carenetchampions.org.
