The Jackie Robinson Celebration Game was created to honor Jackie Robinson’s groundbreaking achievement on April 15, 1947, when he broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball. This event serves as a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity and the impact of Robinson’s legacy, while also raising critical funds to support United Way’s initiatives in the local community.
Rachelle Madrigal, Vice President of the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, reflected on the significance of the event. “The Jackie Robinson Training Complex is not only a site where athletes come to train, but it also holds deep historical significance as the place where Jackie Robinson began his Spring Training career,” said Madrigal. “This game provides us with an opportunity to honor that history while also giving back to the community. We’re proud to host this event alongside United Way of Indian River County and continue Jackie’s mission of inspiring future generations.”
