Wildly popular husband and wife team Melissa Mastrangelo and Horacio Lertora return to Gallery 14 with their pop art pieces made from multiple wood squares featuring iconic retro images and plenty of nostalgia. The show entitled: Pop Rocks: Mixed Media by Melissa Mastrangelo and Horacio Lertora will run from Tuesday March 4 – Friday March 28 2025. There will be a reception on Friday March 7, 5-8pm as part of the First Friday Gallery Stroll.
Melissa and Horacio, who continually bring smiles to the faces of fans and collectors from near and far, like to say that they are spouses sharing the same canvas in life and art.
Having started out as sign makers, they utilize Horacio’s skill as a theater set designer and Melissa’s fine art painting skills and often incorporate typography and hand cut stenciling into their art. According to Melissa, “We have always enjoyed combining patterns, retro imagery, ephemera, color, and text, and appreciate the playful way it all interacts together.”
Featured, as well, will be watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, mixed media, assemblage, collage, sculpture, art glass, ceramic, and jewelry by Gallery 14 owners-artists: Lila Blakeslee, Barbara du Pont, Mary Ann Hall, Barbara Landry, Jessica Leto, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, Evan Schwarze and Dorothy Napp Schindel, as well as represented artists Walford Campbell, Jim Cohoe, Melanie Denison, Joan Earnhart, Terry Green, Mia Lindberg, Viola Pace Knudsen, Francis Mesaros, Michael Robinson, Carol Staub and Jo Zaza.
