Coming Up! Santa highlights Riverside’s final ‘Holiday Weekends’

Riverside Theatre will be the ideal place to bring the little ones as “Holiday Weekends” continues through Sunday. The theater lobby will be adorned with holiday decorations, setting the perfect stage as Santa himself will make appearances for photos with the little ones from Thursday, Dec. 12, to Saturday, Dec. 14. In addition to the precious photo op, the little ones can enjoy Playtime in the Park “Celebrate the Holidays” beginning at noon on Saturday, Dec. 14. After that, there are two staged performances for children: “Finding Nemo Kids” at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14; and “Once on This Island” at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Both performances are free and tickets are not required. The celebration circles back to the adults in the evenings when Riverside’s “Comedy Zone” brings comedians Myke Herlihy and Kevin White onto the stage. They will do their standup performances at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. Tickets are $25. There’s more entertainment for the whole family when the Vero Beach Theatre Guild presents the beloved Christmas classic “Miracle on 34th Street.” This heartwarming story of belief and holiday spirit opens Thursday, Dec. 12, and runs through Dec. 22. While there, families will enjoy complimentary photos with Santa, holiday auctions, and raffles during each performance. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the tale or discovering it for the first time, this production is sure to warm your heart. But best get those tickets now, as they are very quickly selling out. You are invited to Immerse yourself in a dazzling outdoor art experience with Art After Dark, a digital light exhibition displayed on the exterior walls at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. The “show” runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14. Admission is free; be sure to bring a lawn chair. The museum is also opening its doors for a free family-friendly event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. There will be tours, art projects and live performances. The Vero Beach Women’s Club presents a “Party Breakfast with Santa Claus” from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. There will be music, a visit from St. Nick and, of course, pancakes. You must drive a bit for this, but fans of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” won’t mind. A special “Avatar: The Last Airbender in Concert” is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the King Center for the Performing Arts, 3865 N. Wickham Rd., Melbourne. A live orchestra will perform the show’s iconic score while highlights from all three seasons will appear on a cinema-sized screen.
