On Thursday, Nov. 21, the Sunrise Rotary Club will host the “Can Castle for a Cause” Challenge & Food Drive at the Indian River Mall Food Court. The teams will construct unique “castles” made entirely out of canned goods. Set up is from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Building starts promptly at 5:30 p.m., and spectators can witness the imaginative creations live in person or on social media. After the competition, all canned goods will be donated to local charities, offering crucial support for families in need over the holidays. The winning team will take home the coveted Christmas Can Castle Building Challenge Trophy, a rotating honor engraved with each year’s champions. Get ready for a weekend filled with “Flamingo Fun.” It begins with the Flamingo Comedy Jam at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at Riverside Theatre, 3250 Riverside Park Dr., Vero Beach. Headlined by comedian Jon Reep – winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” – and featuring Florida’s Funniest Female, Sheena Reagan, this show promises laughs for a good cause. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with VIP access starting at 6 p.m. Tickets start at $500. Then, the Flamingo Fishing Classic begins at 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, with weigh-in at 1 p.m. at Riverside Café, 3341 Bridge Plaza Dr., Vero Beach. The fish include snook, trout, redfish, sheepshead and snapper. The event offers cash prizes, including $500 for first place, $250 for second and $100 for third. Registration is $150 per boat (covering two anglers), with a $50 fee for additional anglers.
