The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) in Vero Beach invites the community to a rejuvenating day of wellness on Saturday, Nov. 16, featuring activities that highlight the serene beauty of the Indian River Lagoon and the calming effects of nature. The day begins at 9 a.m. with a two-hour guided kayak excursion along the tranquil waters of the Indian River Lagoon, offering participants a unique opportunity to explore local wildlife and the lush landscape. Following the kayak journey, attendees will return to the ELC to enjoy a healthy lunch together from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In the afternoon, the “Grounded in Nature” program runs from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. It will be led by Veronique Ory, and will offer a mix of restorative activities, including meditation, a gentle nature walk, journaling and yoga. This session is designed to provide participants with tools for relaxation and self-discovery, all set within the tranquil ELC grounds. Admission for the entire day is $95, while half-day options are available for $40. For those interested solely in the kayaking portion, tickets start at $55. Additionally, families with young children can attend “Little Wonders,” an outdoor enrichment and early literacy program tailored to children ages 18 months to 4 years. This session, running from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., includes story time, a mud kitchen, pond exploration and nature crafts, offering a playful, hands-on experience. The cost is $15 per child (accompanied by an adult). The Environmental Learning Center is at 255 Live Oak Dr., Vero Beach. Call 772-589-5050 or visit DiscoverELC.org.

Ballet Vero Beach presents “Classic Heat” at the Vero Beach Museum of Art this Saturday. The ballet is inspired by the museum’s current exhibition, “Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller,” which celebrates the colors, charisma and energy of the 1960s. “Classic Heat” will feature two new works choreographed by company dancers Marlyse Noble and Darien Santos, as well as a special 20th-anniversary revival of “Crimson & Clover,” a piece by Artistic Director Adam Schnell. The ballet performance begins at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the museum’s Leonhardt Auditorium. Tickets are $30 for museum members and Ballet Vero Beach subscribers. For all others, tickets are $36. The tickets also include admission to the museum galleries, which will give guests a chance to view “Roadside Reverie: Glass Works by John Miller.” The exhibition is the largest solo show by the artist and features over 40 glass sculptures inspired by American automotive culture and diner nostalgia. This exhibition, organized by VBMA Chief Curator Caitlin Swindell, includes notable works from Miller’s “Hot Stuff,” “The Blue Plate Special,” “Do Not Duplicate” and “Classic Heat” series, spanning his creations from 2008 to 2024. One of the exhibition’s standout installations, V-ATE, showcases a 1954 Ford Mainline as the centerpiece, incorporating several of Miller’s glass sculptures in a playful nod to V8 engines and classic car culture.
