In a historic Tuesday election, voters across the nation made their choices for city, county and state government candidates, while also deciding to re-elect former president Donald Trump to serve as commander-in-chief. Locally, political newcomer Aaron Vos won a seat for a two-year term on the Vero Beach City Council.
Incumbents Linda Moore and John M. Carroll Jr. won two other seats on the Vero Beach City Council. Moore, vice-mayor for the city of Vero Beach, and Carroll, both initially elected to the council in 2022, each will serve a second two-year term.
Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers was re-elected to office for a second four-year term. Commissioner Laura Moss, who represents District 5 and is a former Vero Beach mayor, was also re-elected to office to serve a second four-year term representing the county.
Vos, Moore and Carroll will be sworn in at 10 a.m. Nov. 18 inside the Vero Beach City Council chambers. Moss will be sworn in at 9 a.m. Nov. 19 at the board of county commissioners’ regular meeting.
Flowers, along with other constitutional officers, will be sworn in at 9 a.m. Jan. 7 at the county commission meeting.
